If Austin Johnson doesn’t intercept that screen it would’ve been a touchdown. Perfect play call vs our defensive call. Wow, lucky.

I wouldn't call Johnson being in position to make a play lucky.

On a sidenote, I thought the Bills run defense was stout against a very good offensive line and RB.    You take out that 58 yard run by Taylor, his YPC on the remaining 20 carries was 2.8 yards.

8-2, another week of playing a solid B game and winning handily, excited for the next month!  Games start to get more intense now, we're playing four good teams, time for the true measuring stick for this team.  Enjoy the ride!

Haha you’re funny, thinking some on here are going to enjoy the next 4 games.

It was lucky. A DT intercepting a screen is lucky. Although he’s becoming a ball hawk. Maybe try him at safety?

It's not lucky to be in position, you can call it lucky that he caught it but not to be in position.   There were only 4 possible outcomes based on his positioning,

A) He intercepts it

B) He tries to intercept it and it falls to the ground

C) He tackles the guy as soon as he catches it

D) It bounces off of Austin and it goes to the RB

D is by far the most unlikely scenario.

He read the screen well yes. But a DT making a play on the ball is luck. All Flacco had to do was throw it over him. He threw it right to him.

There is no chance the Bills wanted a DT to be the last defense on the screen. Colts had 2 blockers in front of Taylor, the Bills sent the house. They got lucky.

Why would he risk a hamstring injury chasing Flacco at a meaningless point in the game?  Remember when he ran alongside Millano on that pic 6 and tore his hammy? Phillips is n the team to play in 10 - 15 snaps a game when we need beef in the middle.

A hamstring....or a shoulder, like this: Phillips belly flop

really makes you wonder.  Why on earth would he be asking a ref that?

apparently it was about their RT or WR or something

Haven’t looked to see if it was posted-

Greg Rousseau not on the field-

Jonathon Taylor had 8 rushes 106 yards

This isn't exactly better, he's basically asking how much they're being allowed to cheat today, because the guy is always lining up wrong and getting an early start.

It's hard to rush when you're feet get tangled up in the roots.

Taron alluded to this in his postgame interview. I love how there are these hidden narratives behind so many big plays in the NFL, and I appreciate the rare opportunities we get to learn about them.

Groot is vital to our run defense. It is an additional concern with Smoot out because I don't really trust any of our other DEs in that spot.

It is a shame to have lost Smoot.  He was holding up pretty good on that Run defense.   I guess it is always the Next Man Up.   Injuries suck.

Here’s the play. I call it luck because Flacco just makes horrible throw.

But Austin Johnson makes a great read and saves the Bills defense from a huge play. Colt called the perfect play vs our defense.

It was a good play call IF the protection held, but it didn't. Von got there in time disrupted the throw and Johnson picked it off. So I don't think it was just luck. The Colts had a play called that required them to execute and the Bills executed better.
