It would be more likely in January or February than in the regular season. As others have noted any such appearance would be driven by another significant injury to our safety room in the playoffs.  Similarly, the Rams brought back Eric Weddle for SB LVI as an insurance policy. Hyde, whose career I greatly admire simply had too many physical problems to continue playing. A Modern Roman gladiator, wounded from too many battles.

I thought it would happen at the bye week before the season, but I don't think it will. Lost in the safety play is he was pretty bad last year.. like almost Poyer levels of bad.

His value was in his on the field ability to diagnose and get other players into position. I don't think that's the Bills problem on defense right now.. they lack physical attributes and Hyde doesn't have those anymore.

It’s all nice talk but Beane has been very down the middle which tells me it’s unlikely. The typical GM stuff of we love Micah , it’s up to him whether he wants to play.

When the trade rumors about Mike Edwards came to light I was certain it would happen.  But if Hyde’s not signed before the bye, I don’t think he returns - barring some kind of injury of course.

The way the Bills spoke him and the fact that Hyde has yet to officially retire made me think this would happen.  Of course, maybe he returns to a team in an “Eric Weddle” role this season

Even if they brought him back, it will take him four games or more to be useful, he’s older and slower, I don’t think he would be particularly useful towards our team needs, outside of some eye wash…,

I thought it was probable prior to the season starting.  It's getting pretty late and decreasingly likely.  If it doesn't happen by 12/1 it's not happening.

If we get an injury, it’s possible.

If Hamlin starts playing terrible, it’s possible.

its possible, but I don’t think he’s part of the plan.  They just aren’t shutting the door on it because you never know what’s gonna happen

Starts!?

We are practically playing with 10.5 guys on defense because of Hamlins abysmal play.

McD is an absolute wizard with how much he is hiding Hamlin.

He's been washed for a long time. I'm not sure he's an upgrade over what we have now.

This is absolutely not true. Often injured yes. When healthy he still had more then enough juice to get it done.

I think we’ll know for sure if he’s added to the PS at the bye.  I would expect they would bring him in then, spend some time getting up to playing shape and be ready to go the last 2-3 games of the year.  That should give him time to be ready for the playoffs.   If he’s not back by then, I’d pretty much consider it a pipe dream.  While I’d love to have him back over Hamlin, I hope he stays retired if there’s ANY risk he could be seriously injured due to his neck condition.   These guys deserve a great life after the game, I hope he wouldn’t risk it if there’s any more risk than “normal” out there.

I think if he does sign he will be like a 3rd down safety or when the defense is playing pass defense to protect a lead

maybe his playoff experience would come in handy against Hopkins, let’s say

Could be, but Game shape and gym / working out shape aren’t the same thing, and that won’t make him younger and with that, faster…,

Leads the team in PDs 5, tied for lead in INTs with 2, second in tackles with 47.  Yeah, Hamlin blows donkey dick.
