So what IS the best end of season scenario for the Bills going forward:

A.)  Chiefs lose to Denver this week..Bills beat Colts, and the Chiefs the week later. Bills now #1 seed.  They play hard the rest of the season to keep #1 seed. Starters aren't rested. Players play through injuries. They get their 1st round bye and home field, but limp into playoffs health-wise.

B.) Bills lose to Chiefs who pretty much lock up #1 seed. Rest of AFC East continues to implode and Bills clinch very early. They will play at least one playoff game at home.  They rest a LOT of players, and given the time to heal, they enter the playoffs as healthy as they have been for playoff games in years.

Probably good arguments for either scenario.

It's an interesting discussion if bills don't get the 1 seed if they should sit their starters week 18.

As a hypothetical example:Play your starters and win week 18 and you get the 2 seed.

Or risk losing and it drops you to the 3 or 4 seed

Can make an argument either way

Best end of season scenario for Buffalo is being healthy and hitting their peak entering the post season.  If they have most of their starters, and are playing to their potential on both sides of the ball, I like their chances against anyone in the AFC.

Win the last game we play.

Cut to the Bills losing their next 7 games then beating the Patriots in the season finale to finish 8-9 and out of the playoffs.

Are you happy now? 🤪

You win as many games as you can. If there is not a chance of improving your seeding week 18, you rest starters. If there is a chance, you play them.

That's how it works in the NFL. There are no other scenarios. You don't just rest a bunch of players if there is something to play for.

I think its ways too early to be thinking about possible scenarios. A lot of things can happen good and bad and we have no clue which teams let alone how they will be seeded. To me thats what matters most is who do we get matched up with.

They beat them last year.  Every once in awhile, the Broncos do something amazing like beating the Chiefs and the Bills last year.

Pretty much all the last 4 or 5 games have been close, and most of those denver teams were pretty lousy (though they did beat us last year fwiw).

The most realistic good scenario is a 2 seed.  1 seed is very tough given upcoming schedule for all teams.

Good health across the team and a step forward by the defense leading to a deep playoff run to the promised land is always my hope.
