When the Bills got Cooper, someone asked why the guy has changed teams so much.  Answer, ownership. He played for the Raiders, the Cowboy, and the Browns. That's dysfunctional, cubed.

I believe this to be true about dysfunctional ownership, however, i think it also had to do with whether teams wanted to invest in a contract with Cooper long term because in all actuality, a contract is an investment for the future on the player, the team, etc.

A contract means that the organization believes in the player enough to invest in them and give them a contract.......apparently, the Raiders, Browns and Cowboys didn't believe in Cooper enough to keep him around.

Their loss is our gain, so to speak.

Thinking back, who was the last players on the Raiders, Cowboys and Browns where those franchises invested in contracts for their players long term? Where they believed that a certain player was worth the amount of money they were willing to pay?.......an investment, so to speak........all i can think of is Dak presently, which might explain piss poor talent, degrading rosters and poor evaluation for their franchise futures.

........my opinion only

CeeDee Lamb

And I always thought Dak was a bad investment.

I think all three franchises have habitually made bad personnel decisions, including head coach choicess.  I suspect, however, that the problem with the coaches is inappropriate interference from the owner, certainly in the case of the Cowboys and the Raiders (if we assume Mark Davis manages like his father) and probably the Browns, too.

Jones's approach is too much driven by the bottom line. He values the show that he puts on more than the superiority of his team. They always seem to have multiple players who love the spotlight so much that they lose sight of what's necessary to win, players who make for good TV.  All the way back to Prime Time, TO, and Michael Irvin.  Great, great, players, but they wanted the spotlight. At least Irvin won, but I think that's probably to AIkman's credit. .

Browns for sure... just pure misery there

I tried using them in franchise mode in Madden once and I found myself feeling bummed out and bored quickly. That was before Watson arrived with his quarter billion dollars of guaranteed money and all the horrible karma that comes from doing business with a guy like that

I agree with quite a few of your points but the question still poses some complexity...

For instance, the Browns could be the easier fix in some regards because they're gonna be buried in that division for the foreseeable future which is somewhat of a positive.

This affords them more of a chance to blow it up and attempt a rebuild and establish some sort of foundation during the remaining years of Watsons contract.

There are no quick fix options available and this is known. This almost assures them 2-3 drafts alone to find a top notch qb prospect which they should be in prime position each year to have the picks of the litter with no true expectations. They need to be sellers in almost every facet to start righting the ship. They could move Garrett for a kings ransom for starters.

The Saints have notoriously kicked the can down the road but are mired in purgatory. They never know if they're buyers or sellers.

The issue there is they keep thinking they're a piece away from competing in or overtaking a less solid division and keep repeating the cycle. There are way more expectations in NO in my opinion due to their division but they are perpetually torn between taking their medicine or patching things up. They are convinced there is a quick fix...

That presents a way longer road to recovery until they make a solid decision on how to approach their future while that same decision is somewhat dictated and attached  to the successes (or lack thereof) of their divisional opponents.

I quick voted the Browns but I'm not as certain and that's primarily due to the looming expectations associated with each franchise.

I haven’t voted yet because it is a tough question. Both are in a bad position. I come back to which team has the best shot at finding a FQB since that’s the most important thing in football. The Browns have more surrounding talent than the Saints, but that will probably make it tougher for them to find that FQB. Deion already said he won’t let his son play for the Browns or Panthers so cross him off their list of possibilities. Not that I’m sold on him or that whole dynamic, but it still takes an option off of their board. Guess I’m voting Browns.

Just because they are paying him crazy money doesn't mean they have to play him.

They will be in excellent position to draft a QB next spring.  Problem solved (as long as Haslam is locked away in one of his rest stop toilets for the draft).

Browns ...

Saints just need a new GM and HC ... The Browns are peeing money away like crazy with the Watson contract, especially since he's hurt more than he plays.  You also can't fire the teams owner and as long as Haslam has anything to do with that team, they're screwed.
