Ravens v. Bungles TNF Gamethread ( Please leave your Bills' observations at the door ; -)

Whoever gets the MVP, no one is playing better than Jackson and Allen this season. I've watched the Ravens play four or five times this season and Jackson's playing within himself, not doing rash stuff, reading defenses very well, and throwing an awful lot of perfectly placed balls. I don't think you can look at him anymore as a superb runner and mediocre passer. He's way better than mediocre passing now.

I don't think it's something that I can state. Being the word Smith that I am I will try.  But the pocket poise, the vision, the overall effective game manager situational quarterback play where he has to throw the ball instead of run the ball. The moments where we see a quarterback just take the short stuff, play the conservative game and walk it down field with their arm. He's an elite football player, there is no doubt. But there's just something about it in the eye test that needs to happen for him to be among the best when talking about quarterbacks in this era.

The way he is playing this season? Not sure I agree. This is the best he has ever played IMO. He keeps improving.

And throwing with anticipation. He used to be a "you get open then I'll throw it to you" Quarterback. He is playing at a true elite level this year as a passing Quarterback not just a dual threat guy.

I still think I’m happy with the Bungles’ loss, although the Ravens look awfully tough (on offense).

If the Bills and Ravens meet in the playoffs I hope we are ready to throw the ball all over the field, because it’s going to be a shootout.

Great point. He's just put it all together this year. Jackson, Allen, Mahomes, and Burrow is an incredibly tough group to compete for one Super Bowl berth each season.

Lamar is +200 odds to win MVP

Josh is +300 to win

If Bills have a better record and they continue at this pace, voters will be looking to give Josh his 1st rather than Lamar his 3rd.

The only thing I can see killing Lamar's hopes is Henry stealing lots from him

Jackson has made me a believer this year. He looks much better than at any point in his career including the MVP seasons. Dude is playing at an absolutely elite level. You have to give him his flowers

Bengals had that game and blew it yet again. Their fumble at 21-7 was the turning point. Could have closed it out with a score on that drive and we would have probably seen the appearance of Panic Lamar. That would have been a real test for him but the Bengals let him off the hook.

And yet Allen only managed 180yds and no TDs against the worst pass defense in the league.

Bills have no real shot at beating either of these teams.   They're more explosive and more dynamic.

Put it this way I wouldn't trade him straight up for Mixon today. Really like what I see from him both as a runner and a pass catcher. To have a better career than Mixon he has a fair ways to go.

I loved him coming out of college and was hoping he was a target for Buffalo.

I'm a sucker for an all-purpose 3-down back.

Unfortunately, Jackson is a shoe in for MVP.

His stats will be great but so will be Goff's. Goff has a chance to set the single season completion percentage record on a Lions team that might go 16-1 or at worst 15-2. Lions look like a shoe - in for the one seed. I'm not convinced the Ravens will be able to even get the two seed in the AFC with their defense.  I'd expect at least two more losses for them on the year which would finish them as 12-5 at best. Could be hard to win the MVP over Goff and a 16-1 or 15-2 Lions team.

I think some voters could be over Lamar too. Given the option of Goff or Jackson I would think / hope voters would give it to someone new.

Hopefully the Ravens don’t play the Browns in the playoffs then because they lost to them already this year.

Bengals certainly had their chances to take over the game and blew it.

Do the Steelers have 4 wins on their schedule?

Man I don’t think so….

Steelers 6-2

At Washington

Vs Baltimore

At Browns

At Bengals

Vs Browns

At Eagles

At Ravens

Vs Chiefs

Vs Bengals

They will get to 10 wins which is four more wins.

They would have to go 3-6 down the back half to finish 9-8. Even then, 9-8 this year likely takes the 7 seed.

But they are a good football team. It is a tough schedule but they can on paper win all those games. They can also lose all those games although you figure at minimum they would split with Browns. So it will be somewhere in between they will go 5-4 or 4-5 down the stretch. I actually think they beat Washington this weekend. They probably end up splitting with the Ravens because it's Ravens/Steelers and isn't that always how the series goes? Weeks 17 and 18 could be two home games against teams playing for nothing and playing some sort of combination of back ups.

and last year was his best year. hopefully the trend continues. the guy is a force. maybe it's my pessimism in me but i want to see it over a couple of seasons.

I agree that Jackson is playing well.

I also agree that Jackson is throwing to a lot of open receivers… which helps.

The one TD yesterday… I don’t think there was a defender without 20 feet of the receiver.

Another was a 5 yard pass that went for a 70 yard TD.

You’re nitpicking. He threw 4 TDs and no picks and has 24 and 2 on the season. That’s better than “playing well.”
