Congrats to Team Trump. America has chosen your path for the next four years. America apparently wants what he is selling. This is mostly a Trump poster board here, so I am interested to know what your top three or four policy changes are that you want him to do. When he speaks, he is all over the map, so what does MAGA want him to do? Some of the obvious options seem to be:

  • Mass deportations of non-citizens- are we talking about raids at businesses to forcible remove employees? Do they go to mass camps someplace? Who goes - just the criminals or grandma too? How does this work?
  • Continue building the wall
  • Do (What?) to reduce inflation and roll back the price of food and rent
  • Elimination of Department of Education
  • Mandate an education curriculum
  • National ban on gay marriage
  • Laws banning trans participation in sports
  • Expanded rights for gun ownership
  • Move the Department of Justice into the Executive under his command to use against those who disagree with him
  • Slash government spending - what needs to be cut - military, social security, Medicaid, Medicare?
  • No tax on tips; no tax on SS benefits, renew the Trump tax cuts, more tax cuts for who?
  • Ban on government spending money for trans surgery for prisoners.
  • Drill baby drill, revive coal mining
  • Elimination of subsidies for electric vehicles or renewable energy development
  • Withdrawing from NATO
  • Cease sending military weapons to Ukraine
  • Develop strategic alliance with Russia
  •  200% tariffs on imported products from China
  • Eliminate government regulations in the Food and Drug Administration
  • Eliminate environmental regulations
  • Ban TikTok
  • Military strikes on Mexico drug cartels
  • Eliminate the Affordable Care Act and replace it with a better, cheaper Trump Care
  • Restructure Federal government to install Trumpers throughout.

In 2016-2020 I was making 50k a year. 2020-2024 I was making 110k a year. I lived better in the trump years than I did in the Biden years with half the money. 71 million other Americans voted for him probably for that same reason

He will find the cure for inflation

This is the one reason I don’t get actually.  You can look up the numbers for inflation globally.  America did very well.  Too bad the Dems have no communication skills.

Shut down the border.

Drill baby drill.

End military/government Marxist DEI poison.

All three I'm confident will begin in earnest on day one.

Although they say the deportations will begin immediately as well, I recognize that's going to be a lot more difficult. But the rapists,  murderers and gang members at least should be gone very quickly.

1. Breakup Google

2. Reimagine Homeland security; the DMIC; federal law enforcement; completely gut all things DEI at every single federal agency

3. Border security; deport the people with no business being here - I don’t care if that’s 100,000 people or 10,000 people - the message to the globalists that want to send the criminals from South America to the US is nope.  No more.

1.)  Don't impose tariffs.  I know being a protectionist is part of Trump's appeal but more jobs will be lost than created.  Also, if you raise the price of imported goods the cost will get passed on to all Americans and hurt lower-income Americans even more.  It's a weird obsession of his and his only consistent principle since the 80's.  You know it's a bad idea when Bernie Sanders pushes for the same thing.

2.)  Pass a federal flat tax of 12% and largely reduce the IRS.  Nobody likes paying taxes (rich or poor) and it would lead to an economic boon.  Lower the corporate tax to 16%.

3.) Convince Thomas and Alto to retire while you control the presidency and the Senate.  Replace them with younger conservative judges.  Obama couldn't convince RGB to retire and it ended up biting them in the back.

Bonus:  Make Daylight Savings time permanent.  I'm sick of it getting dark so early this time of year.

I've always liked this idea, but it is met with a lot of pushback.  I'm honestly not sure why, can one of our resident detractors explain why a flat tax is bad?

Three things I would like:

1) simplify taxes and shrink the IRS

2) stop illegal immigration, and shut down companies that employ them at below minimum wage

3) codify election security- require proof of citizen, photo ID to vote, and states must cull rolls every few years.

America exports most of its inflation, being that the dollar is the world’s reserve currency.  Nearly half of all US dollars are held overseas.  Some countries don’t even have their own currency, they use dollars.  Other countri Issue their own paper, but they back it with dollars and peg their currency to the dollar.

So when the government prints money and reduces the value of those dollars, foreigners are losing lots of value too, not just US citizens.

That is part of the reason why inflation is worldwide at the moment

Both of the first two ideas (tariffs and flat tax) are terrible for the middle and lower classes.  Absolutely awful.  Why should Terry Pegula (for example) have the same tax rate on his top earnings as you?  Apparently you're a trickle down guy.  If you trust the establishment--rich folks--to give you their money, then go for it.  I don't see it happening.

As an aside, these tax cuts that MAGA is throwing around (tips, car loan deduction, undoing of their repeal of the SALT deduction, apparently now flat tax) sound great in principle.  But they are in large part leading toward old school Republican ideas that are rotten for the middle class.  Essentially MAGA is moving toward a consumption-tax society, that is, limited taxes on income and much larger taxes on things people consume.  If you're on the same economic footing as Steve Forbes, who thought of the flat tax idea years go, then go for it.  We'll see how it works out.

Such a response is to be expected from you.  What's your Day 1 MAGA priority?  It's a fair question.

All of the economic proposals sound great to me.  Let's do them all and see what happens.  They'll be great for me (investor class) but bad for the vast, vast majority of MAGA.

You won't get any meaningful responses here because the economic approach on the whole is senseless.  It's all a gamble on massive economic growth predicated upon massive tax cuts without concomitant spending cuts.  We saw how it worked out the first time (big, big debt increase, for which there is a bill to be paid).  It will be the same story this time.  Equities will increase in price (good for me).  Sugar high spike will be there (good for me).  Domestic manufacturing might increase a bit, but we just don't have the labor force to support what Trump wants to do.  And consumers will pay more for stuff, inflation will increase (because of tariffs, at first, and because of minimum wage differentials for domestically-manufactured disposable junk like razors, toothbrushes, etc.), national debt will explode, and right around year three someone is going to wake up and realize that there is a bill to be paid.

In short, this is what happens when people who have done a lousy job managing their money (Trump included) start managing national finances.

Most flat tax proposals address that issue by also including an exemption up to a certain level of income,  only applying to income above that level.

Then by definition it's not a flat tax.  That's a progressive income tax, which we have now.  But you voted for it, so flat tax away.

Again, nothing of substance.  Which is to be expected of you.  Just anger and rage about your situation.  Just pick something of substance instead of memes about people you don't like.
