Brian Baldinger was an offensive linemen in NFL and pays special attention to line play.

Working as analyst is not as prestigious as an airplane pilot but good to get if you can keep staying busy.

During his 13-year NFL career, Baldinger played for the Dallas Cowboys ('82-'87), the Indianapolis Colts ('88-'91) where he was the team's Most Valuable Lineman in 1991, and the Philadelphia Eagles ('92-'93). He played in a total of 143 games.

I think it's a very weak call, but I think the call was made because you're not allowed to hold down a defender on the ground.  Not sure if the guard laying on top of him mattered, but the ref doesn't throw the flag until the defender's on the ground trying to move his torso with Dawkin's extended arms on his shoulders/upper back.

From the NFL Rule book:    https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-rulebook/#article-3-illegal-block-by-offensive-player

If a blocker falls on or pushes down a defender whose momentum is carrying him to the ground, Offensive Holding will not be called unless the blocker prevents the defender from rising from the ground.

So they could have called it on the guard who fell on top of Chop.

They called it a hold on Dawkins. It was not, and it was weak regardless. If you can’t accurately identify the offender, keep your flag in your pocket.

I know, people get things wrong, but the clouds above my front yard just seem more annoying than usual.

Gregg Cosell had the same observation of the offense on One Bills Live last week. Said something to the effect that the biggest improvement made by Brady has been consistently scheming plays that give the receivers space.  Hopefully, the days of three receivers bunched together and running into each other are gone for good.

It is amazing how many words in English have double or more meanings but that is what happens when you have a "melting pot" language.

My wife was saying when we were out walking how the night had a beautiful round moon and I told her I agree but I see a double one.

So there are two ways this can go wrong.  Josh can decline to take the easy underneath throws, either because he's bored (no sign of that) or because the defense baits him into thinking a deep receiver is open which would lead Josh to hold the ball and give the defense time to cover the underneath guy.

The other way is for some defense coordinator to do his job and take away the underneath throws.  They could keep a LB as a spy on the 8 yard completion area.  They could run a zone that doesn't get pulled deep by the WRs on vertical routes.  The danger for the defense with that approach is that Josh still has his cannon and can hit deep throws whenever the opportunity arises.  The question is whether the deep receivers, who have been running their butts off doing those verticals with no catches to show for their effort, are able to get clear on their own.

The NFL is not designed to let you keep doing what's working for you.  Brady and Allen better have a bunch of Plan B options ready to go.  And I'm pretty sure that's the case.  Go Bills.

Although the team may not be able to create separation, they are creating space which leads to YAC......i endorse this.

sweats, it’s a two edged sword imo, you do what Baldy Stating so we’ll, and lots of YAC, or the old Josh was leading the lead in air yards with that cannon of an arm and not as much yac.  It’s doesn’t really matter other than the deep threat leads to more pics, and lower percentage catches, vs. what they are doing now.

Either way, he is “SuperAllen”.

To the OP, thanks for sharing as I’m not a big X guy, but love Baldy’s breakdown whether a favorable review or not.

We like Baldy today.   😊

John fina , who played tackle for Buffalo for ten years , his rookie season ending with bills in SB 27 , said that Dawkins grabbed the neck line part of the jersey and yanked the guy down.  He said this was definitely a penalty and would be called 100% if the time , esp with the ref right there looking at it. He reviewed the all 22 , and was very firm it was a penalty.  Not sure baldy is seeing that jersey neck grab. It looks like he reaches in and grabs and pulls the guy down suddenly.   I have no idea , but fina is pretty good with offensive line play , he does coach college level players including his son Bruno.   It’s on his last podcast with joe miller on YouTube.   Doesn’t matter now thank goodness, but interesting to see various viewpoints. The ref was in perfect position to see it either way.

That was something that kinda irritated/confused me about Dorsey's offense. He's all about that "our guy vs. your guy, go win the route and get open" and sure, that's great, you need that in your offense. But I don't think you can rely on it 100% of the time and sometimes that's what it felt like with Dorsey. He had more of a down the field passing attack but like, could never mix it up with a mesh route here and there? Just scheme a guy open to give Josh an easy completion every now and then. Felt like that wasn't happening much with Dorsey. Brady, tho, he has no problem designing things and dialing up stuff made to get a guy in space.

Anyone else call Dawkins Dawk?

On that last play near their own end zone, I mistook van Demark for Brown, then saw the #74. Nice block kid!

Baldinger is one of the best things going on that god forsaken app. I love his little video clips and breakdowns.

And yes, Josh has mentioned a few times this year that Brady gives him a lot of answers. He designs plays and does things with motion that simplify things for Josh and get guys open in space. In short, our OC helps our QB out in ways that I have been begging for for YEARS now. And wouldn't you know it, the percentage of Josh's passing yards that have come after-the-catch is the highest its ever been in his career. Thank goodness. Finally.

Brady may need to really step his game up the next couple weeks if Cooper and Coleman are both out. I'd love to see him meaningfully gameplan around and involve BOTH tight ends in the passing game consistently. Dawson Knox didn't just forget how to play football. Kincaid has the talent to be the featured receiver on any given week. Let's get these boys going.

Quinton Morris !!

if we are short on receivers, use James Cook in the slot and Ray Davis in the backfield at the same time, I think that would create some open field mismatches.  That long TD run after the catch by Davis was a thing of beauty.

Ty can run and catch and then run again as well ! Bills have weapons !

Well the Chiefs had seen the O-Line last year, twice! I don't think it's going to be that much a surprise to them.

I hope they double Jones whenever they want a big play. Jones has the freedom to freelance and pick whichever lineman he wants to face. I want to use Belichick's philosophy here: player X can beat our O-Line but X cannot be Chris Jones.
