Jefferson replaces Smoot as a flex option who can play bigger end on run downs or inside on pass downs I imagine. With AJE, Solomon and Von as three edge options that was a need IMO. But it is a ton of resources tied up at DL. We shouldn't be surprised. Beane tells us every single spring it is the first priority position group for him. Then he makes moves to back up his words and we are all surprised. Year after year. Edited November 6 by GunnerBill Quote
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted November 6 Posted November 6 It sounds like they are both signed to the 53, not the PS. So that would rule out bringing back Hyde unless they release someone else. I suppose they could initially sign Hyde to PS for a couple weeks to give him time for conditioning, but would need to also release someone there first too. Quote

Jefferson is a pretty good player IMO. 6 sacks last year I believe. He can play DT or DE really Phillips can randomly just destroy the pocket on passing downs. We are getting almost 0 pressure up the middle I think we'll get some decent play out of him. i could care less about having to have a 1 tech out there. Give me 2 3 techs that penetrate. JP is 6'6" 340. Jones is getting handled one on one which don't help Ed one bit. Quote

Beane saying "the DL is my priority," Beane spending lots of resources on the DL, Bills fans rationalising what he really means is more offensive skill guys. Rinse and repeat. 5 Quote
Logic Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Not the worst rotational 3Ts to add in the middle of November. A little surprised that they signed BOTH of them, but I suppose they had the open roster spots to do so. 1 Quote

And we still won’t be able to stop the run or get any consistent heat on the QB. But boy do they love their mediocre/washed DL resources. Can’t help themselves. I know a Bruce Smith-type isn’t just sitting out there waiting to get the call, but, for all the credit I give them for their ability to identify and build a secondary, they are pretty ***** at identifying proper WR and DL talent. 1 1 Quote

He's just not been very good at getting great players. Oliver was overdrafted and while solid has not been close to a top 10 pick. Rousseau is very good but inconsistent. So many other wasted drafted picks and cap space on mediocre to bad players. Miller looked like he was going to be a great signing until the injury. My only issue with that was not trading for him a year earlier. I would have gladly given up two forst rounders for Myles or Max. I wouldn't be surprised if the first 5 picks next year weren't CB, Edge, DT, S, and edge again. Quote
BananaB Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Sad part about this it is basically admitting we have a problem but they are doing nothing about it. Remember the Beas and Smoke signings a couple years ago? Quote

DJB Posted November 6 Posted November 6 A bucket of meh at the deadline . I wish Beane went for it and acquired some difference makers . The cost was pretty cheap for quality players Quote
BuffaloBillies Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Just added 12' 10" and 631 lbs worth of DTs. At the very least they shouldn't get blown off the LOS. Sometimes just clogging up the middle is the goal. Quote
The Firebaugh Kid Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Jordan Phillips' primary contribution is riling up the crowd. I love it. Hopefully he can get us through some injuries for a few weeks. 3 Quote

Brianmoorman4jesus Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I like it. I like both. Guys that know the system and the locker room to an extent. Good depth, lfg Quote
Dan Posted November 6 Posted November 6 We had 2 roster spots open. We just got gashed on the ground …again. Signing DTs makes sense. And for those wanting pro bowl talent… you don’t get that without giving up considerable draft picks AND money. So what do you expect? I would qualify these as solid moves to get try and shore up one of our greatest areas of current need. It also tells me the injuries to Keon, Cooper, Benford… aren’t that serious and they’re expected to be back soon. Quote
