Sad news.  While I have probably only been there a handful of times that place was absolutely a Buffalo staple

Towne Restaurant closed because the family was no longer interested in running it. Similarly, I wouldn't be surprised if no one wanted to step up and run Swannies.

 

Owning a restaurant can be a real ball buster. We're running out of independent restaurants.

Yeah, bummed about the Towne.  It used to be my go-to after playing a gig at The Continental (long gone).

There's a Facebook group simply called "The Continental". All about its glory days. (And of course, we do band promotion in that group, as our set has a lot of songs played there).

I remember seeing the local band Pauline and the Perils at the Continental. The 80s were good times.
