I think Bragg was a big reason this worked out for Trump. https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4734858-andrew-cuomo-donald-trump-alvin-bragg-hush-money-case-new-york/ “If his name was not Donald Trump and if he wasn’t running for president … I’m the former AG of in New York, [and] I’m telling you that case would’ve never been brought.” “That’s what is offensive to people, and it should be because if there’s anything left, it’s belief in the justice system,” he added.

I wasn't discussing the case itself, just trumps ridiculously stupid claim that his less than a slap on the wrist sentencing would cause so much damage to the country if it happened. He just wanted to avoid the stain it puts on HIM. Anyways, now apply your same logic to Hunter Bidens gun/drug charges. I personally am an accessory to many people I know who own guns, but smoked weed. If you're going to hate lawfare, hate ALL lawfare.

I’d be all for hating all lawfare, but that’s not the way the game is played. Of course Trump wants to avoid the stain on him, and it seems based on the election and all the liberals/dems threw at him, the country was damaged enough to send them a big FU. I’m not certain why you wouldn’t want to talk about the case itself in light of Cuomo’s comments, unless of course you favored lawfare one way and not the other. If I apply the same logic used to Hunter Biden—which I’m happy to do—-there has to be a scorched earth approach to putting him away for as long as possible. Of course, his response would be exactly the same as Trump—to cover his a$$—-and as every thinking person knows, it would be his dopey father’s response to show his son was special and that the orderly process of deterring innocence or guilt, punishment or freedom shouldn’t apply to him. What you seem to want is after 8 years of abject stupidity by the Dems, you want peace and righteousness in the kingdom. That’s a tall ask and likely to be rejected.

It isn't that I didn't want to discuss it, it's that you were responding to me like I was discussing it. I wasn't. I was mainly just praising Coney-Barrett, which I wouldn't have done if I was living in the partisan hack world, that you believe I do. Hunters charge was just as far-fetched as promoting trumps to a felony was. It seems you're having trouble swallowing that fact.
The Frankish Reich Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Trump's sentencing to go forward tomorrow thanks to a 5-4 Supreme Court vote. Completely sensible decision. The trial judge is on record as saying that he will not be imposing jail time or any other punishment, so it is appropriate that the case below is completed and Trump's appeal may raise any/all issues at once. Before you say "oh, of course he agrees with the liberal NY judge," listen up: the Supreme Court should also not disturb FL Dist Ct Judge Aileen Cannon's decision stopping the immediate release of Jack Smith's classified documents report. There are still active defendants in that criminal case, and the general rule is that the trial court judge is granted great leeway in deciding how to ensure a fair trial.

She doesn't have any jurisdiction on the election case. That was Chutkan's case. I'm flabbergasted that the news is not all over her ridiculous overstepping. Anyhow, more good news for trump, the appeals court has allowed the DOJ to release the report, but we still somehow have to wait for Cannon's 3 day wait period. Of course the maggats will claim everything in it is a lie, but Monday will be fun for sure. Which poor SCOTUS justice will be getting a call this weekend from Don??? My money is on Thomas. You offered thoughts on the relative hackery of ACB, a conservative. I offered similar thoughts on the relative hackery of AC, a liberal. Good for both of them, right? As for HB, again, that just the way it goes when the gloves come off. I’m not sure what you feel we’re disagreeing on, but if the Rs continue to pursue the Biden family business, or Cheney or whomever….it just is what it is. 22 minutes ago, The Frankish Reich said: Trump's sentencing to go forward tomorrow thanks to a 5-4 Supreme Court vote. Trump acknowledged he respected the SC decision and will continue to fight. That should satisfy all concerned. On the Biden DOJ case, it’s reasonable for supporters of Trump to assume malfeasance is afoot, so best to stay vigilant. 1
4th&long Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) Convicted felon who had to run for office to stay out of jail. He will have to flee to Russia before his 4 years are up. Edited January 10 by 4th&long

B-Man Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Crooked Judge Juan Merchan just sentenced President Trump to an unconditional discharge in the hush-money witchhunt, meaning absolutely NOTHING happens to Trump. That whole thing was a waste of everyone's time. They just wanted the headline: "Trump Sentenced!" An unconditional discharge is a sentence “without imprisonment, fine or probation supervision.” According to the law, an unconditional discharge can be imposed when a judge “is of the opinion that no proper purpose would be served by imposing any condition upon the defendant’s release.” It's basically a DISMISSAL of everything. President Trump will appeal and get the conviction tossed entirely. In the meantime, I hope the incoming Justice Department launches criminal investigations into everyone involved in the lawfare, from Letitia James to Alvin Bragg to Juan Merchan. Here's what Crooked Judge Juan Merchan said "Unconditional discharge has been affirmed as appropriate. I impose it "It is my obligation to consider all aggravating factors, already in my Sandoval ruling and other rulings. The protections afforded to the office of the president are NOT a mitigating factor - but they are a legal mandate." He knew he couldn't do jack. 1

I believe that this silly little case, run by New York prosecutors in Manhattan, really pushed undecided voters to vote for Trump. Let’s be fair—you look at what passes for professional in NY—-governors bounced from office for sexually harassing employees, soliciting call girls and getting away with it, the entire fiasco associated with sanctuary city and tapping out asap on actually having to house and feed people, and the mayor getting raided by law enforcement—-who really wants that coming to their hometown? Mad props to Alvin Bragg for pursuing a case that ends with nothing. 1

However: In the interest of rehabilitation, social issues, forgiveness and restorative justice, I would suggest one week from today would be one week too long.

We live in an America in which Hunter Biden is allowed to vote and Donald Trump is not. Discuss.
