you can’t interchange 3-4 and 4-3 LBs nor 3-4/4-3 DLs.  Some OL/RBs fit well in some run/ blocking schemes but not others

That’s what I find interesting when people want a player in Buffalo. Dude may be great with the team he is with, but may not fit our scheme.  Or our locker room for that matter.

 

Can’t say I know who is or isn’t a fit.

I’m not a scheme guy, but clearly they were playing the pass against the ‘phins more than the run.  Close, but we won.

It's not about the run defense. If he was healthy for even a few games and could give 10-15 interior pass rushes a game it would make a difference. Are we excited about Austin Johnson and Eli Ankou on 3rd and 8?

JP can crash the pocket when he is motivated and healthy.

My memory of him is he was decent at getting pressure but often was bad on run plays, I want a good run stuffer. If I am wrong I will accept it but that is what I vaguely remember

It wouldn’t blow me away if Efe Obada found his way back here to fill in for a bit.   I believe they played him a lot in one of the big packages (maybe against NE?) when he was here.  Shaq would be a good Smoot replacement, too, but for the whole shooting at the hookah bar thing.

Pass and stop the pass is how this team goes. Get pressure on the qb when they want to pass.

Cargo ships change direction quicker than Efe Obada.   I don't think I could stomach him being on the field in Buffalo again.   They'd be a lot better off seeing if Ndamukong Suh wants to come out of retirement before they did that.   I suspect we will see more veteran players who are chasing rings released at their behest later in the season.    Like when Houston released WR Kenny Stills late in the 2020(?) season and the Bills put him on the PS.   Might even see guys like Jadeveon Clowney and Calais Campbell cut late(and probably both head back to Baltimore).

 

EDIT: Clowney won't be released.  I thought he was on a 1 year deal but he is on a 2 year deal.  Campbell I could see being cut though.   He is dirt cheap($2M for 1 season).  He may have earned a raise next year with his play but for what he will get he will be able to choose his team and wait until after the deadline for the comp pick formula to sign there.   So Miami won't have any reason to hold onto him, IMO.   He could make a playoff run elsewhere and still return home to Miami for 2025 if that's what he wanted.
