Rapp was always going to be a starter. He was here last year so knew the defense and they gave him a 3 year deal. I think the thought edwards would be the other guy with Hamlin and bishop backing up this year with bishop taking over next year but injuries in the offseason derailed that plan

It should've been Rapp & Edwards with Bishop the first guy off the bench.

The pro personnel dept has never been on the same exact page as the coaching staff under Beane.  Rasul Douglas worked out, Daquan for awhile until he hit his wall this year, the rest of the FA/trades have been total busts.  Hopefully Cooper changes that narrative a bit but man, does Beane piss away money.

Guess between him, MVS and Curtis Samuel you can chalk up FA singing as a basic failure on the part of Beane this past offseason.

If we're bringing in players for their "singing", there's definitely a basic failure right across the board.

Mike Edwards has always sucked. I hated the signing when we made it, and the fact that he was a disruption in the locker room is just icing on the cake. He's been complaining for weeks, so this had to be done. If you aren't good enough to beat out Hamlin or Rapp, you better be a rookie or the ultimate process guy. Edwards was none of those, so good riddance.

Hopefully they can upgrade via trade, but if not, Cine can't be any worse.

I wonder if the Browns would part with Nyheim Hines?

Agreed a I think Ankou for louge swap makes a lot of sense but that still leaves 2 roster spots. Maybe Cine up from Practice squad to replace edwards. Still seems like there is an available spot for an outside addition

I'd totally be down for Cine taking Edwards spot.

Edwards played 85% of snaps in the Bucs 21' and KC 23' conference championship and Super Bowl wins.

I just don't see how he hasn't had a chance to play.

He hasn’t just not played. He’s been a healthy scratch on a bunch of occasions.

The only thing I can think is that McD has a ton of trust in Hamlin to call the defense from the secondary.

So strange to not even give the guy snaps. Like at all. This is kind of like us signing/trading for receiving RB’s only to never throw them the ball.

The org makes a lot of good decisions but I think this is a bad one.

Really don’t understand what Beane and McDermott were thinking by signing Edwards and Samuel. Both productive players previously but enigma’s in Buffalo while hurting the cap space with minimal return.

Samuel when not injured is a good player. He’s been injured all year and they keep trotting him out there.

There's obviously something and that something is we don't know.  He was supposed to be a starter.

Why? He has been a backup everywhere. He has played because of injury. It was an open competition in camp and preseason and he was unavailable for good portions of that, and didn't impress when he was available. He lost the competition. There is zero evidence that he would be better than Hamlin or anyone else who has been playing.

That's true....but he's not even dressing.  That's what's odd to me.

It was always going to be Hamlin, Edwards or Bishop as a weekly inactive.  Cam is a valuable piece that can be our 4th on gameday.

Edwards was brought in to compete, but Hamlin was much more consistent at camp and Bishop is already a better player than Edwards.  I also think McD is always going to put more stock in players who play his system/disciplined with their responsibilities over pure talent.

Why?   Have you seen Edwards practice?   The Bills usually do not get rid of veterans in season when they can contribute.  Hamlin and Bishop out preformed the guy and that is why he is not playing.  Injuries can slow a player down.
