I’m feeling like we’re going to hear later today about how Cam Lewis can play safety if injuries happen.

They have kareem Jackson on the practice squad who can step in and play if an emergency happens.

Assuming Ankou will get added to the roster from the PS.

Agreed a I think Ankou for louge swap makes a lot of sense but that still leaves 2 roster spots. Maybe Cine up from Practice squad to replace edwards. Still seems like there is an available spot for an outside addition

They probably already tried.  Now they're doing him a favor by giving him a chance to sign elsewhere.

Ya that’s what header just said

released after no trade offers

Im choosing to interpret this news as “opening a roster spot”.. because otherwise I’d have to join the MVS/Edwards/Samuel doomers.

Nah, guy asked for his release and we aren’t playing him. No reason to hold him hostage.

Let him go, bring in a DT.

He is a malcontent depth player. Move on. There are a hundred guys who can fill that role.

Really? Like, next Sunday if we need them?

Maybe I’m just in a foul mood, but I’m sick of the inmates thinking they run the asylum in professional sports. The NBA is the worst, and that’s why I won’t even watch the NBA Finals.

2.8M wasted not to mention all the Curtis Samuel money.  Man we make some head scratching FA signings?

Curtis Samuel was a good signing, I think his injury is worse than expected.

The signings of Austin Johnson & Dewaune Smoot have been good. Casey Toohill has been decent as well.

Not every signing is a home run. It happens.

beane could have asked me about Samuel. that guy has disappointed me in fantasy for years. Parlayed one good year in Carolina in 2020 into years of disappointment.

This list is really piling up?  We're not talking minimum salary FA'S either.

Hines

Harty

Edwards

MVS

Samuel

Harris

Ford

Austin Johnson is terrible.

Almost $15M in cap on Samuel MVS and Edwards. Nice.

Don’t forget Collins.

That said, it ignores some good value pick up FAs.  Hollins has been good.  Excellent on special teams and a decent 4th WR.  Smoot has given us decent play up front and Toohill has been better than advertised also upfront.

Andressen was also a great UDFA pickup and Austin Johnson has been decent depth.

Fortunately they pretty much hit on nearly every player in the draft plus the trade for Codrington.

Also the gutsy move of moving McGovern to center and making Edwards a starting guard is working out well.

He missed OTAs and Training camp with injuries.   None of us are in that locker-room and have no idea how hard someone does or doesnt work.   We also have no idea how much of the playbook someone does or doesnt know.

This misnomer that he was some major contributor to the Superbowl teams in Tampa and KC is nonsense.   He didnt start on the Tampa Bay team that won the Superbowl and has only ever been a full time starter once in his career.

I cannot believe how hard some of you guys are getting your panties in a bunch over Mike Frickin Edwards.

A minor injury in training camp shouldn't derail a guys entire season. Its hard to believe he's not better than Hamlin, but Sean is stubborn.

McDermott rarely (if ever?) makes a change to the starting lineup once it’s been set, unless injuries force his hand or the guy on the field is a complete liability.

Edwards wasn’t brought in as a “starter” and while I’m with you that he would likely bring higher level play than Hamlin, it’s not as if Hamlin has been a dumpster fire at the position so McD just isn’t going to bench him.

Honestly I think Edwards is kinda being a b— about it.
