He came in and was hurt throughout OTA and training camp so never go the reps and apparently didn't do enough to beat out Hamlin. End of story. 1 1 1 Quote
TheyCallMeAndy Posted November 5 Posted November 5 (edited) Let’s be real, the play of Damar Hamlin was not expected this summer and I don’t think Edwards would have out performed him. Edited November 5 by TheyCallMeAndy 1 Quote

Just what we need another safety with a grudge against his former team. Maybe he can gift us a late unnecessary roughness penalty in the playoffs! Quote
Mat68 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I hope it’s because they are finalizing a move and need a roster spot. But either way Mike Edwards wanted a role. Not a better safety than either starters. Not a better slot the Lewis. He wants out im cool. Cine might get a look and a jersey on game days for teams Quote
Cubanmist Posted November 5 Posted November 5 While they are at it they should release Curtis Samuel or at least try to send him to NY/ Carolina Quote

Both productive players previously but enigma’s in Buffalo while hurting the cap space with minimal return. Both were positions of need and signed prior to the draft. You never know how the draft is going to work out and Hamlin had not won the job yet. At the time of signing both, each were expected to be starters. 2 1 Quote

ngbills Posted November 5 Posted November 5 So he went from playing essentially 100% of the snaps (except game he was hurt) in the playoffs for the super bowl winners last year to not getting on the field over Hamlin... Quote

Rapp has been fine though. Safety is a weakness and they have a guy that has been a good NFL player that they never gave a chance to. This is Poona Ford 2.0. Edwards should have gotten a chance. Edwards had a chance but was repeatedly injured and unable to beat out a rookie who has barely played. Interesting that so many Bills fans blame coaches first for players issues. 1 Quote

Maybe he can gift us a late unnecessary roughness penalty in the playoffs! Why should he have a grudge - team paid for him to work out and when he was injured paid for him to recover and get back in game shape - he passed physical enough to be released. Quote

Kind of- but in reality, he went from being a dime back playing around 30% of the snaps in KC to playing 90-100% in the playoffs due to injury to not being able to beat out damar Hamlin. He couldn’t win the job…..period Quote

Interesting that so many Bills fans blame coaches first for players issues. We have no idea what the situation is. It feels like Poona Ford all over again. He was a good player. The Bills signed him. He was largely inactive. They let him go and he is immediately a starter again. None of us know the situation other than the Bills didn’t like either player after they got to Buffalo. 1 Quote
nedboy7 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Not sure how you can say Samuel is a bust so far. More like why cant they figure out how to use him. He is a proven commodity. Quote
