Rigotz Posted November 5 Posted November 5 https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/nfl/article-14043671/Detroit-Lions-NFL-trade-deadline-Aidan-Hutchinson-ZaDarius-Smith.html ZaDarius Smith traded to the Lions for cheap moments ago. Lions give up a 5th in 2025 and 6th in 2026 Browns give up a 7th in 2025 and ZaDarius Smith 5 sacks in 8 games and good against the run. A solid veteran DE for cheap. Browns are selling. Now is the time to offer a 1st+ for Miles Garrett. A game changing Defensive End that puts us over the top. 3 1 1 Quote

TFBillsfan Posted November 5 Posted November 5 If the Browns move Garrett, it’s a total rebuild for them and most likely a change in coaching as well. They went all in on Watson and failed. Garrett is currently the face of their franchise. I don’t see them moving him unless they get some type of Hershel Walker trade. 2 Quote
MiltonWaddams Posted November 5 Posted November 5 A first won’t even get them a returned phone call. The pieces required to obtain Garrett would be beyond costly. I’d love to have him here, but that’s not an option 6 Quote

The Browns may not have a QB, but they've got plenty at DE. Z is under contract next season, but was not likely in the Browns plans due to his contract and the other DE talent they have. They sent him where he wanted to go and got something for him. I know they were looking for a 4th. A late 5th and future 6th with a future 7th back equals a very late 4th to very early 5th. The Lions get a good DE and have the option for him to stick around next season while Hutch gets back to form - and they didn't overpay. So a pretty fair trade for both sides. Quote

They're screwed against the cap because of the Watson trade and everyone knows it. Deshaun Watson is due $73M fully guaranteed both next year and the following year. Time to tear it down before Garrett asks out. I could think of a few options we can afford that would probably get it done: -Next year's 1st and Vikings 2nd, plus a 2026 1st. That leaves us with a 2nd, 3rd, multiple 4ths, etc. this coming draft. -Groot and a 1st or 2nd. Sounds crazy, but you have to pay him $20M+ in the very near future. -Elam, next year's 1st and 2nd, and more. (Maybe they take a flyer to appease their fans letting a superstar go). Quote
Beast Posted November 5 Posted November 5 The Lions are the clear favorite to win it all. 35 minutes ago, dma0034 said: Bills need a run stuffing DT more than a DE imo. The Bills playoff issues have been not getting pressure with their front 4 and this season doesn’t give me optimism that will be different this season. 2 1 1 Quote

I feel the Bills will lose in the playoffs because of a heavy rushing attack more than excellent QB play this year. I agree that in the past the Bills lost in the past because of thr DEs. I think the rushing attack will be their weakness this postseason 1 Quote
Juice_32 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I may be in the minority here, but I think we need to do whatever possible to beef up the run defense. I know they're undefeated, but I'm way less worried about the Chiefs than I am the ravens this year. 1 Quote

Too rich for my blood, and we’d pretty much have to extend him to make it worth it. 2 Quote

We need both, but YES we need to pressure with the front 4 and actually hit/Sack the QB. Not just flail arms at them. Quote

BullBuchanan Posted November 5 Posted November 5 (edited) Garrett wouldn't be worth what he would cost in a trade. I'd rather have Crosby if he becomes available, but I think adding an elite safety would benefit us more than anything. Give me Matthieu or Byard and I think our defense takes a noticeable step up. At least Garrett gives us a fighting chance, while the NFL blatantly allows the Chiefs OL to hold. 1 Quote

A safety means nothing if your pass rush can't get home. We had two all pros and no Super bowls. PASS RUSH, is key good sir. 1 2 Quote

PASS RUSH, is key good sir. A safety helps take away the deep ball and helps against the run. If we don't shore up the run game, it also leaves us vulnerable to play action. Most of the top teams in the league right now have strong rushing attacks, and that will matter if you want to win a SB this year. On a good day, an elite DE will get you 2-3 sacks, and maybe none of those are game changing. A safety can be a contributor on every play. Edited November 5 by BullBuchanan Quote
