JerseyBills Posted November 5 Posted November 5 (edited) I think this is a fair and simple question, I immediately thought of 2020 , which is the obvious choice but we didn't have close to the OL and run game back then. This team just put up 30 without WR1 and CB1 against the top offense last year. Don't see any reason we can't win out , obstacles happen, injuries happen but I see the most complete team I've seen in the Allen era imo Just curious of the families thoughts of why or why not they are or aren't GO BILLS Edit- Like to revisit this topic, since majority was negative, no Coleman, Kincaid or Brown on O and still put up 30 on a "great" D.. Milano coming back. Feel like it's a valid question - They are silent now, Go Bills Edited December 3 by JerseyBills 3 3 10 1 1 Quote

We have the pieces, its just going to take time with this scheme, with healthy players to see a final product. THEN and only then we will know. 2 Quote
The Cincinnati Kid Posted November 5 Posted November 5 (edited) This team us being aided by an unusual year in the AFC in general and the AFCE specifically. They’re very good, but I’m not sure they’re better than the 2020 team. Diggs, Poyer, Hyde, Milano, White and Beasley all in their prime with an ascending Allen… I don’t think this team tops that one. BillsPride12 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 This team does feel more balanced but is lacking the explosiveness of the 2020 team. We were absolutely lighting it up on Offense that year. It reminded me of the K-Gun years 4 Quote
Bills!Win! Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Once we get Cooper, Smoot, Carter, Milano and Benford back and don’t sustain any more injuries we would be better than the 2020 team 1 1 Quote

thenorthremembers Posted November 5 Posted November 5 2020 and 2022 were both really good teams. I don't think this team is better than either of those teams. 1 5 Quote
Success Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I'd go w/ "more balanced" - especially when we get Milano back. Best running game, too. I can't believe we're in a place where Allen doesn't have to run the ball at all, or very little compared to previous years. 1 Quote
Steptide Posted November 5 Posted November 5 No, not Imo. I actually think this team might be worse than last years team even though our record at this point is better than last year's team at this point. Our receivers are still not getting open. Defense has been good but pretty inconsistent at times. However I do think this team hasent hit it's ceiling yet, so I think they will improve. 4 Quote
Roundybout Posted November 5 Posted November 5 No. 2020 was just unreal with how the offense performed. If we had any semblance of a defense back then, we would have a ring. I also think the AFC is a complete dumpster fire this year, so the competition is not quite what we faced then. I'd say this is the second-best team that Allen has had, below 2020. 3 Quote
FireChans Posted November 5 Posted November 5 No. I think if Amari turns on and Coleman continues elevating, this could be one of the better offenses. I think the talent disparity of the defense is too much to ignore. The 2021 team had a lot of talent. Hyde and Poyer were AP. White was AP the year before. Milano was AP the year after. I don't think we have 4 guys on the defense that will ever make an AP team, personally. 2 Quote
Governor Posted November 5 Posted November 5 (edited) Last year’s team was the worst. This year’s team overall has been the best but it likely wont stay that way very long. Detroit is going to beat us by 20. We can only beat certain teams but we did start strong. Edited November 5 by Governor 1 Quote

Cant base this off of injuries. Good teams manage to stay really good no matter the injury. Edited November 5 by PrimeTime101 Quote
Sierra Foothills Posted November 5 Posted November 5 It's too early to even guess. The marathon is only half run. On top of that there's been lots of injuries and the team's best players on paper haven't played together even once. There are three reasons for optimism: 1) This is the best O-line of the McBeane/Josh Era. 2) This is the best running back group in the McBeane/Josh Era. 3) Including tight ends, this could become the best receiver group of the McBeane/Josh Era. Ask me again in December. 1 Quote
julian Posted November 5 Posted November 5 This is the best oline in the Allen era and because of that, this is the most calm, quiet and repeatable version of MVP Allen to this point. McDermott’s defense will decide the fate of this team in January. 1 Quote

Nephilim17 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 No, not enough difference makers on both sides. Not with Milano hurt, Rapp and Hamlin playing safety and the D line very average. And outside of Shakir, no consistent threat on offense — yet. That could change as Cooper and Coleman evolve in their roles. But the team can win if Allen is smart and we're well coached. Quote
Coach Tuesday Posted November 5 Posted November 5 No. Is this your “we quietly got better” thread redux? 1 5 Quote
