DrMaxPower
https://www.si.com/nfl/bills-bond-on-and-off-the-field-paying-dividends-afc-east Good article on the foundations that have allowed the Bills to reload instead of rebuild. I think sometimes we are too close to the situation to fully appreciate what we have. For as much as people want to crap on McD, he's one of the best in the league and we'd be hard pressed to replace him with somebody equal, let alone an improvement. 10 1 6 2

QB records the last 3 years with a 65 or better QBR (excluding Allen) 119-43 73.5% Allen's record the last 3 years (all 3 at 65 or better) 35-15 70% Lets not overcomplicate things Edited 11 hours ago by Mikie2times 1 1

I personally believe this prevailing attitude that only the QB matters and everything else just falls into place is nonsense. It takes a village, even when you have a QB. Plenty of good quarterbacks have crappy years on bad teams. Chicken or the egg scenario. Edited 11 hours ago by DrMaxPower 3

Clearly the crappers will disagree but they are obvious in almost every thread they are saying he should be replaced. 2

There is so much bad defense around the league. It’s just never here. And we currently have another quasi skeleton crew. That performance in week 2 at Miami was just a master class. I know we all hate the OC juggling and we all want to maximize Josh. But the man can motivate his team and coach defense. If we are going to have a top D every year with him - at some point a championship has to happen. 1

Are we sure Cincinnati is gonna make the playoffs? I’m kinda over this regime. But McD doesn’t let the team sleepwalk to third in their division like every year.
Shaw66
The point that this article misses and that McDermott was too modest to admit is that McDermott built his team with the expectation that this is exactly what would happen as players leave. When he came to Buffalo, he said the objective was to get better every season. He and Beane were very clear that they intended NEVER to rebuild, just to get better. That's No Moon
Is Sports Illustrated even an actual publication anymore or is it basically a badge that almost anyone car write under, sort of like Forbes. IIRC, they're one of the content generators that has been frequently accused of having AI write stuff. BullBuchanan
Who says it was "successful"? Before the Cardinals won yesterday, we hadn't beaten a team that has a winning record. If we can't beat Baltimore or KC in January, then it wasn't successful. The fact that our division has become the worst in football isn't our win. 2 1 1 2

They have winnable games against Browns, Dallas, and Titans as well. They play Chargers soon which that head to head game might determine who gets last WC spot. Right now they are on outside looking in, but still have a decent chance to make it.

Not defending McD here, but Burrow and Zac Taylor are running a LOT of mileage out of that single SB run 4 years ago.
