BADOLBILZ Posted November 6 Posted November 6 The Sears catalog arrived in late August back in the 70's and they had exclusive Star Wars sets.........it was a big deal........you'd be hoping you got that stuff for like 4 months. Quote

These things were a childhood staple in the 90s but I'm pretty sure the tradition goes back much further. I have been seeing these things pop up a lot lately on Nostalgia pages and have enjoyed reading people's personal stories so wanted to see if anybody on here has any good stories or memories from those days? I can vividly remember after Thanksgiving dinners my Grandma popping the question "So what do you kids want for Christmas this year" and before you knew it those wish book would be out on the kitchen table and we would be going over all the cool toys and just like that Christmas season was officially on. Much simpler times for sure, it makes me sad this generation of kids won't get to experience the joy it was to search through these catalogs while putting together your Christmas list. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/64/05/f5/6405f56a7727ddb5deeaf06a540f83f5.jpg You must have been rich. We got to choose from the S&H green stamp book after filling them. Quote

LabattBlue Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Brand Names, Century, Naums catalogs…and the Sears Big Wish Book. Great time to be a kid. 😂 1 1 1 Quote
BillsPride12 Posted Saturday at 08:31 PM Author Posted Saturday at 08:31 PM I was at a collectible/memorabilia shop this afternoon and they actually had the 1992 Sears Christmas Wish Book there. Flipped through it and brought back a floodgate of memories... If only there was a way to travel back in time😭 Quote
WotAGuy Posted Sunday at 03:29 AM Posted Sunday at 03:29 AM I had wishes about the models in the lingerie section. Quote
GoBillsForeverAndAlways Posted Sunday at 04:09 AM Posted Sunday at 04:09 AM I absolutely loved these!! One of my favorite times of the year was always going through them and picking out my favorite toys. Even the ones I knew I wasn't gonna get, just loved flipping through the colorful pictures and daydreaming about them. Wish more stores still did these. The closest thing I have now I feel like is the Hallmark Christmas ornament catalogue, which is still fun lol Quote
Mike in Horseheads Posted Sunday at 05:25 AM Posted Sunday at 05:25 AM my parents got the Sears, Pennys and Century catalogues. when we went to my grandmothers in Hornell it was a bonus the Montgomery wards and Spiegels ones were there. not like that mattered, grandma always sent some clothes item... sigh Quote
That's No Moon Posted Sunday at 06:10 AM Posted Sunday at 06:10 AM Sears and Brand Names were the two big ones at my house. Penney's to a lesser extent. I remember it used to irritate me how much of the NFL stuff was only made for certain teams and it was rarely the Bills. It got somewhat better when they got good but even then you were better off going to AM&A's. Penney's was decent for Bills stuff in the actual store for a little while. The catalog sucked though. They have some retroish stuff again. I'd buy the blue hooded Starter jacket I used to have in a hot second. Homage has something similar, but it's not quite the same. Queen City Vintage has an original one, but it's the wrong size. https://queencityvintage.com/products/vintage-buffalo-bills-puffer-jacket-large Quote
Fleezoid Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago When I was a young kid, my mom would hand me a catalog (usually Sears or JCPenney) and say "Write out you list and put page numbers next the items." I would make an extensive list of the coolest toys. I never got one of those dam things. Quote
