Mark Davis won't eat $$$

I don't know much about Tuttle,  but I'd be happy with either of the other 2.

Sebastian J. Day  is my favorite idea though for DT

That's great, but it will get us DESTROYED against Detroit, Baltimore and KC

quite possibly. I don’t think we’re at that level this season. But who knows.

On offense, it could have been argued we were one player (a receiver) away.

I don’t think we can make the same argument on defense. Further, trading for players mid season seldom works, especially when you have basically zero cap flexibility to make the trades work. We’d wind up paying out the nose for anyone good enough to justify a trade in order to have the relinquishing team eat their salary.

This season has exposed bigger picture issues with our defense imo. We’re built to defend the pass. This worked well with offenses trending more to 11 personnel, throwing more from spread, etc. Offenses are now countering this type of defense with more run based schemes.

What does that mean for the future of our cover 2 zone? Can it be fixed with more bulk interior DL? Do we need bigger LBers and/or safeties that have more freedom to patrol LOS? Do we need DBs with better man skills? Is McD playing dead and saving actual scheme adjustments for playoffs?

I just don’t think we know enough yet to justify spending what it would take to bring in a difference making along the line, and if I had to guess, even someone like Myles Garrett (who would definitely help) wouldn’t be enough to lift this ill-matched defensive unit to a point of real contention.

This was always going to be a transition year. Unless, Mahomes, Lamar, and Goff all go down, it’s very likely going to still be a transition year regardless of what we do.

We're 7-2 and its a transition year?  What is going on here?  We can be as good as anyone in a one game playoff.

maybe in one game yeah. Are we good enough to win four straight playoff games? I would say no, and further to the point I tried to make, there is no one player that will put us over that jump this year (unless we see contending QBs go down).

Do we play them all to take them down?

Mahones (aka whiner boy) - yes

Goef (aka Rams reject) - yes

Darnold (aka JEST reject) - yes

Daniels (aka Washington rookie) - no not to Superbowl

Hurts (aka Eagles jekyll-and-hyde) - no not to Superbowl

Wilson (aka shipped out of Denver on a rail) - no not to Superbowl

Jackson (aka Mr MVP) - no, He runs like a RB and he stings like a bee

Cousins (aka not close relative) - no not to Superbowl

So basically it comes down to we take out QBs in our way, they are taken out by other teams or we take him out in Superbowl and hope his backup is not as good.

???

I am very confused by this..

I get home after being away most of the day, assuming Beane and the Bills' leaders have read this thread and that it has helped them to NOW  finally decide what move to make, what player(s) to trade for.

But then I look at the list of NFL transactions for today---and see the Bills have done nothing at all!!

No trades at all!

WTF?

A joke? Or do you really think he is that good, has that much potential?

I have no idea!

He plays like Milano. Fast diagnosis and movement to the ball. We need more beef at the LB position to put a good thump on RBs and passes at the LOS.

He looked great in preseason. I wish they'd just try him for a few series a game to let him get reps and show what he's got.

Great, give him more playing time.

Need a good blowout or two, thought it may last week, to give guys like this some playing time to see what they can do.
