While there are ligaments and tendons within the wrist, it’s not like there’s a lurking torn ACL or Achilles in there. If the x-rays are negative, he’ll be back this year. Quote

Joe burrow tore his SL ligament. Out for the year. There can be serious injuries that will end his season even for a wrist 5 minutes ago, Beck Water said: I'll take Samuel being involved any way he can get successfully involved. He wasn't a great pass rusher but he was pretty amazing against the run and setting the edge for us. I believe he was cut from the Panthers practice squad a few weeks ago so we have a Carolina connection too...still only 20 years old. Lawson is 30 years old, not 20. I don't think the "Carolina connection" has any basis in reality, but in this case since Lawson was drafted by the Bills and played for us 2016-2019 and 2022-2023, the coaches know him well. We'll see. Quote

There actually are a lot of ligaments in the wrist that stabilize it and allow it to move side to side and up and down, not to mention thumb ligaments. Then move up a bit and there are all those ligaments that allow the fingers to flex. Now we move on to the tendons and all the little bones.... The thing is, unlike an ACL, the ligaments don't need to support the entire weight of the body, but they're still pretty critical to grip strength and motion of the hand. 1 Quote

Burrow had 4 torn ligaments in his throwing arm. Very bad luck and not the norm. We have 4 players out with wrist injuries. They all aren’t done for the season, even with surgery. The point is, wrist injuries are not a season-ending death sentence. Here’s some recent data: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37994029/ The mean missed games was 2.5. Btw, I’m not a sports med doc, but I’m a rheumatologist. I’ve seen many wrists in my career. I don’t know anything about Coleman’s wrist, but I’m not all doom and gloom about it. 1 1 2 Quote
Captain_Quint Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Looks like Smoot is having surgery and McD said he's 'holding out hope' for Coleman. Both sound like season enders to me. It's already November so not alot of healing time left. 1 Quote

At this point it's hope we get everyone back for the playoff run. We’re currently the two seed and a KC loss away from controlling our own destiny. I know it looks tough but this team seems more resilient than teams of past. What a defeatist take. Were you thinking about draft pick last year during the bye? Quote

vanhalen26 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I guess we scour for a WR tonight/tomorrow and see if anyone available makes sense. Quote

Keep draft picks and just hope we can get by being down players and try to load up next year. Or... make trades, extend contracts for cap room and make a run in a really weak year overall for the AFC, and NFL, in general. Quote

That’s the difference between this year and some other seasons in which we had injury issues and were not getting those players back (so far, at least). If guys like Milano, Smoot, Keon(?) are back towards the end of the season or when the playoffs begin, I think you have to go all-in, because depending on how the rest of the season goes with injuries, we could potentially be healthier than we have ever been once the games matter the most…. 2 Quote

TFBillsfan Posted November 5 Author Posted November 5 I give the Bills organization credit as you rarely hear any leaks on key information. Tuesday morning and outside of the Bills organization, we have no clue if Coleman has a broken wrist, pulled tendons or is expected to make a full recovery within the next week. Also, outside of Smoot and Carter, no inside knowledge on the type of injury Benford and Cooper have outside of a wrist sprain. Add in, zero news on how Milano is trending and they keep it locked down. I’m hopeful Benford and Cooper is just minor, but not sensing that. Not a complaint, but typically you hear some news from other teams much earlier. Much different than in the past before Beane and McDermott. Quote
