They're generally near the 290, so you can get downtown or most places in/near the city (and to Niagara Falls, if you are so inclined) very quickly by car and an Uber would not be terribly expensive, given the money you'll save on the hotel. These hotels are near the Millersport and Niagara Falls Boulevard exits off the 290. Given that they're in the Northtowns, it's a longer drive out to the Stadium on Sunday, but you're well situated for the rest of the weekend. That's typically where I stay when I visit Buffalo and it's worked out well. A little off topic, so forgive me. Living in metro Atlanta, I laugh when anyone in Buffalo talks about a 20 minute trip being "a longer drive". The drive from the Millersport Marriott to Highmark (normal traffic situation) is about 20 minutes. I used to live within spitting distance of that Marriott, and I thought Orchard Park was not very close, and other than Bills games or concerts, would never venture that far. But, your perspective changes when you relocate to someplace like Atlanta, and everything isn't within 20 minutes as it seemed to be in metro Buffalo. While living off of Millersport Hwy, I had a girlfriend in West Seneca. Again, I thought that was pretty far to travel. Looking back, it was probably 15-20 minutes away - less time than it takes me now to go to most places. The thing I think I miss the most from living there is the ease of getting around and how many desirable destinations are less than 30 minutes away. The airport was never more than 10-15 minutes away. Downtown - 15 minutes. Here, in the northern Atl 'burbs, it's almost 15 minutes just to get to any interstate or major highway, and then you have to hope somebody didn't wreck and bring the road to a standstill. 1 Quote

There are studies that say if something is more than 20 minutes away, you are less likely to do it on a regular basis. That allows you to get almost anywhere in Buffalo, while it only allows for me to venture to “my little part” of Atlanta. Traffic is relative. Buckhead alone is bigger than Buffalo, and I have friends “in Atlanta” I would never visit because they are too difficult to get to. Don’t even get me started about when traffic just stops. I only get on the highway when absolutely necessary. Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted Thursday at 03:15 PM Posted Thursday at 03:15 PM Lol, whenever I read through the options I cringe. The hotel situation in Buffalo is better than it was when Tom Brady’s dad trashed it, but only incrementally. The Embassy, Westin, Courtyard downtown, the Curtiss and the Marriott downtown would probably be at the top of my short list. I’m not boujee about most things, but certainly hotels. I have watched too many internet videos on bed bugs and bodily fluids, to be comfortable anywhere. 🤣🤣 1 1 Quote
Wacka Posted Thursday at 10:16 PM Posted Thursday at 10:16 PM (edited) I'd suggest the Red Roof in in Amherst, but that's full of "foreign guests".😀 When I lived in the SF Bay area, I worked in Alameda (where the "nuclear wessels" were) and lived about 30 mies or so away. The closer places where dangerousad more expensive. One way was 30 mies and the other was 35 miles. The shorter route took longer to drive I took ne at least 45 min to get to work. Would get in at about 10 and work til about 6 because if left at at 8, I would still get there close to 10. Avoided the rush hour. Told the boss about it and she agreed and had no problems. Later with a different job, I had to go to a job site and a CHiPs officer was gunned down on the interstate just before the second exit ahead. They closed both directions (10 lanes total). I heard about it on the radio just before I got to the exit before it. Goy off and had to take the surface roads (mostly 2 lanes)to the site maybe 2-3 mies away Took me 2 hours. I'd guess you're only 30 minutes or less from the airport and I'd think in Buckhead in maybe 15. I'm in Woodstock. Airport is usually 50 minutes, depending on traffic, with the longest part (for morning flights) just getting past Marietta. Ughh. Growing up in Williamsville, the airport was less than 10 minutes away. We didn't know then how good we had it. We thought Akron Park was the other side of the world when we were little kids and went there for picnics. Better take snacks and a blanket for the drive. Now I look at Google maps and laugh when I see it was about a 22 minute drive. When non-WNYers hear 'Buffalo', they immediate think 'snow'. Yes, and that gets old. But I sure miss how quickly you can get anywhere in metro Buffalo. The good news is that most the suburban towns around here have brought entertainment, restaurants, nightlife, and easy parking into these locales. There's very little reason for me to go ITP now. Riverboat Ritchie Posted Friday at 01:26 PM Posted Friday at 01:26 PM Off topicbof hotels but it is funny how commute time and distance is often relative and changes. Grew up in southern tier with tons of small towns but each seemed like a fiefdom and rarely ventured outside limits accept if to the woods for fishing or whatever. Some of these towns were only 5-10 minutes away but seemed like different worlds. Now I get to drive in CA 45 mins each way for to get to work. It would of seemed insane to WNY kid in me. 1 Quote

Does anyone recommend anywhere without breaking the bank. Ideally near downtown but willing to drive a bit to save some cash. thanks! Maine-iac Posted Saturday at 11:28 PM Posted Saturday at 11:28 PM Thought I already posted in here but must have been a different thread. I've stayed in downtown Buffalo and enjoyed the hotel and the area and just got tickets for Rally bus service to the game. They pick you up in downtown, bring your gear to tail gate, and they drive you to game. Leave your tail gate gear with the bus and after the game they take you back to downtown. No traffic, no fuss, no muss and you can drink all you want because you are not driving. Quote

Awesome tradeoff in terms of commute and immediate access to restaurants and everything. He’ll have his own parking spot! 2 Quote
