Is Halloween anyone else’s favorite holiday?

You get to dress up and eat candy.  And since I don’t have kids of my own this is my chance to exposed of kids today giving out chocolate.

Plus people are usually in a little better of a mood.

It certainly a hell of a lot better to me than Thanksgiving or Christmas with family drama.  It does not help at all it’s an election year!

It's not really a holiday because you don't get the day off from school or work.

That being said, I love Halloween. Such a fun day. A whole month of watching horror movies, eating fun sized candy, Boo Berry, Franken Berry & Count Chocula.

Then of course there's "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown."

What a great time of the year this is.

I hate Halloween, just completely hate it......and yes, i'm the guy that turns off all the lights and hides in the dark, never answering the door when those little brats show up.

I expect toilet paper and eggs to be strewn about at my house this year.

It was until marketers decided to make it part of Christmas.

They are purifying it!

Drop some religious guilt on it! lol

I hate it too... But participate, by at least passing out candy.

Getting freakier every year as Millennials hit middle age and the cosplay gets more extreme.

Halloween is fun.  I think most people really enjoy it.  At least around here it is pretty big.

I can't say it is my favorite but it is right up there with the big ones.  I remember as a kid to me it always felt like Halloween was the big kickoff for the major Holiday season ramping up to Christmas.

every year i have a good costume but this one. i couldn't figure it out until it was too late to pull off. i was going to be Chappel Roan. the humor of this is lost on many here but i am pretty tall and built, with a beard and quite weathered on the hairline.

but, i do love halloween and still have 2 hours of work to do in the garage for the spooky garage.

At our old house, we were the only ones on the street that would give out candy, so kids avoided our street like the plague. I mean, a kid's ultimate goal is to get as much candy as possible in the shortest amount of time, so coming anywhere near my neighborhood with only one house giving out candy when 15 others weren't, was just not fiscally sound to a kid.

So, one year we would have 2 kids, the next we might get 4......that is a complete waste of time by anyone's standards.

At this new house, i have no idea how many kids are coming and going down the block cause i shut all the lights off and do the old "if i don't see you, you're not there" trick.

Don't bother coming to our house, my wife bought cheap candy.

I'm thinking about Eggin' my house.

When we were kids, if anybody gave out apples, those apples got tossed right back at the house........so apples weren't given out anymore after that.

Since you are going as a horse are you doing it with or without a tail?

My wife thinks I’m strange because I have almost zero interest in candy or desserts. Halloween may be the reason for that.

We didn’t get pieces of candy, we measured it more by the pound. We’d fill up pillow cases and garbage bags until they couldn’t hold any more, then stash them in the bushes and carry on with a fresh bag. We were surrounded by easy mark townhouses and even better, garden apartments. We’d ring all 8 doorbells and half of us would start upstairs and the other half down. It was an operation.

Nah, my wife and I are going out to dinner tonight.  We're gonna leave a metal bowl of candy on the front porch.  It'll last less than 30, and we don't care.  Way too busy with work these days.

My swan song around Halloween was when I dressed up like Chewbacca two decades ago.  I'm 6'6", and to my surprise the costume was way too big.  It was cool that I was able to make guttural noises all night though!  Plus all of the (barely dressed) ladies kept petting me.  Even light petting was totally excellent.  Then I met my wife the next year, and she was starting law school (at night) at the time, so I left HW in the rear view.

I don't have kids so it's been many years since I've participated in trick or treating except for just passing candy out at my house but I went to my brother's neighborhood tonight to see my Nephew's trick or treating and I was pretty blown away by how extravagant a lot of people's setups are nowadays.  Instead of just answering the doorbell, most people sit out on the porch or hang out in their garage with tons of candy and even some small gifts and so many awesome decorations.  One couple even had a cooler full of beverages they were passing out to the adults.  Trick or treating has really evolved from what I remember in the 90s.

For the first time in multiple years I see kids walking around but our house is last one on our road which is also on corner of main road so do not know if we will get any trick or treaters.  My wife did not buy any specific treats for Halloween but I found some various packaged treats and told my adult daughter she is responsible for any visitors.

Haha. For the evening I wear a blackout costume with cape and mask then hide in our haunted garage for those brave enough to enter.

I found a Redsuck jersey in my house someone used as cleaning rag when we bought it.

After Superbowl when Redsuck spray red and blue  tempera paint on my car at DoD facility I decided to hang a dummy from a tree in my yard at end of driveway dressed as scarecrow with jersey on it and a sign "Deadskin".  Kids would hit it with a branch conveniently nearby.

Following year same dummy but standing on a cut section of wood.  More hits and word was passed around.  I had it in a hangman noose and occasionally it would move when being hit from me hiding behind tree.

Next year dummy was sitting on cut section of wood with lit Jack O Lantern as head.  One kid encouraged another to hit it and the dummy stood up and screamed!   Kids dropped candy and took off.   Eventually more kids came back and were poking it with kids teasing the one who said it moved and screamed.  I was out of costume behind tree listening.
