Augie Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Mario didn’t get hurt. A question without an answer. 2 1 1 Quote
The Frankish Reich Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Remains to be determined. If Von comes back and helps us win a couple playoff games (dare I say a Super Bowl?) then it's Von. Better signing because signing him was signing a player who could put you over the top. Signing Mario was always dumb because that team was nowhere near ready to compete with the big boys. 2 3 Quote
JohnNord Posted October 30 Posted October 30 (edited) It has to be Mario. He beat his production in Houston and had his three best seasons in Buffalo on the way to be named an All-Pro in 2014. Of course, he also dropped on a cliff a season later and was washed FAST. But the bottom line is that for 3 seasons the Bills got what they paid for. Von is a little different. His run started off really well. But the ACL injury not only killed half of his 2022, but also 2023 when he spent the entire season recovering. Right now he’s a situational pass rusher. While he did take a pay cut I don’t think his production matched his contract. Of course, if he leads Buffalo to a SB which is a long shot, his contract is worth every penny Edited October 30 by JohnNord 1 1 Quote

I’m looking at signing more than player. EDIT: Signing is not in the title, but still. . Edited October 30 by Augie 1 Quote
thenorthremembers Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Trent Murphy has the same number of sacks as a Buffalo Bill as Von does. Mario Addison was probably a better free agent signing than Von. Mario Williams is the 2nd or 3rd most productive defensive end the Bills ever had, its not even a discussion. 2 1 1 Quote
frostbitmic Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Mario by a mile ... How many 10+ sack seasons did we get out of him ? ... Won't get any out of Von. Besides Mario had those cool Red contacts. 1 Quote

Low Positive Posted October 30 Posted October 30 The Mario Williams signing was stupid. Spending big in FA on a pass rusher when the team doesn't have a QB is something that bad teams do. He could have had 20 sacks and that team still misses the playoffs with EJ Manuel. 1 Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Is this a real question? Prime talented DE vs an end of his career sack specialist who got hurt and suspended? Not sure how this can even be asked. Now maybe we win a SB with Von, but it won't be because Von is better signing than Mario, it will be because this team has Josh Allen, a real GM, and a legit coaching staff where Mario played with trash can QB's, trash can coaches, trash can front office, and was part of a middling team that never sucked enough to get great draft picks and was never good enough to make a playoff. 7 minutes ago, GunnerBill said: If Von ends up being a critical piece in a Superbowl team I might change my mind. Until then it isn't close. Even then though, it won't make Von better signing, it will be because Von had Josh Allen on the other side, was on a better overall roster, with better coaching and a legit front office. 2 Quote

ghostwriter Posted October 31 Posted October 31 (edited) Von Miller vs Mario Williams in his prime, Von Miller wins, no contest. We did not get Von Miller in his prime however. Dollar for dollar Mario Williams was head and shoulders the better signing. Groot and Mario in his prime is a scary thought. Edited October 31 by ghostwriter 2 Quote

That's basically the correct answer If Miller helps deliver a super bowl , he will become a legend If that doesn't happen their careers as Buffalo Bills aren't really close so far Quote
