HappyDays
Beautiful eulogy @SDS. Thank you for taking the time to write it. If you spend as much time on here as some of us do, you have to have a few screws loose. John was no different. I'll miss his particular brand of posting and my thoughts are with his son and daughter. 2

FireChans
A titan of optimism in this community. There aren’t a lot of posters who you can just tell are good people at their core just by the way they speak. John was one of those. But not in a judgmental or ivory tower way. He brought an every man’s determination and positivity to this community. His “hope springs eternal” spirit will be sorely missed. RIP to a great Bills fan. Bray Wyatt
Never conversed with him much (though I dont usually do too much back and forth) but he was a quality poster and seemed like a good dude from all of the reading of his posts over the years. RIP and thoughts and prayers for his family.
stevewin
Thanks for the great write-up Scott So sad. I'll always remember him as one of the old school good guys contributing all through those up and down Bills periods over the years (decades now!) The Hogboy spearing 'incident' goes down as one of my all time most memorable. RIP JFH

JerseyBills
RIP man.. I always said, off topic but we should be donating to each other, the real ones that consistently post on here, if ever in a financial or emotional bind , make a post and we should help. I never donated to the charities, because trust issues, but I'd donate directly to one of you. John was a mainstay here and will be missed, watch over us my Bills brother 1

John took this seriously and was ready to strap it on! 😂 This was one of more memorable threads in the history of TBD, along with NJSue, RIP, looking for homework help. Sad news indeed. Rest in Peace.

jimmynunn
SDS, what a wonderful eulogy. Obviously, I never knew John personally, but you fleshed him out beautifully. It always brightened my board reading time when I saw a post from John. He'd been my favorite regular poster for many year, and I was wondwering why I hadn't seen any comments from his in a long time. I will miss his voice of reason that made this board a better place. Yet another person I will think of when we finally get the Lombardi!

Returntoglory
1 hour ago, SDS said: Today I got confirmation from John's son that @John from Riverside (formerly from Hemet and VA) passed away in August from an unexpected heart attack. John was a daily mainstay in our lives here for over two decades. 47,292 posts and that's just from when we started counting in 2006 or so. He was getting ready to pack his bags and move to live with son in Oregon when he passed. Mysteriously, he last logged in March 8th. I had tried to connect with him several times per month since his disappearance, as there wasn't any public reason why he hadn't logged in. Unfortunately, we could not make contact with him or his family until the note I received today. John was a fiercely loyal Bills fan, despite never making it to Orchard Park. We had tentative plans to get him out for this year's tailgate, when he started mentioning health issues. We never got a chance to meet. John was an interesting guy. His deep love for the team made for some emotionally charged discussions. He never met a UDFA he didn't love, nor a ref he didn't hate and rage against their bias. His most well known story goes back to very early days of the community. The community troll (we had no moderating tools back then) liked to have fun with John given John's proclivity to emotional outbursts. This culminated in "Hogboy" challenging John to a helmet-spearing contest in a parking lot. John took this seriously and was ready to strap it on! 😂 John frequently told us about his interesting life. He was in the air force in Iraq where he often told us about his high-level security clearance and attending intelligence briefs. He was a roadie for the Scorpions. He loved his kids and always had dreams of his son making the NFL and his daughter becoming an actress/singer. We would hear about the constant shuttling of his daughter to auditions where he would name drop with best of them. IIRC, he had plenty of stories about Katy Perry, Madonna, Celine Dion, etc... He was a great sport in the shoutbox as the guys there enjoyed ribbing on some of the peculiarities. Topics on conversation included his frequent visits to Subway on campus where he was a grad student advisor, his love of Latina women, and a rotting toe that he proclaimed grew back after disregarding his doctor's advice and he just starting running on it. 😂 Ultimately, John was a great guy who absolutely loved his kids, loved the Bills, and loved the community here. I regret we didn't make plans to meet a year earlier. We are fortunate he decided to make his home here and he will be missed. Go Bills! Rest in Peace fellow Veteran.
Bad Things
I’m very sad to learn of John’s passing. He always came across as a good guy and seemed to have a high football IQ, especially when talking about O-line play. Too bad he didn’t see the day when we finally won a Super Bowl. God bless you John. Rest in peace. Peace and love to his family too.
