If healthy I’m guessing he would have beat out Hamlin in the offseason, but McDermott basically never shuffles around the starting lineup once it’s been set unless due to injury.

I’m kinda surprised they didn’t “platoon” safety to start the year like they did with some Oline positions in the past. Maybe they didn’t think he was far enough along, or maybe he just hasn’t been “process” oriented enough right from the start.

I have to believe since he's inactive every week, this is some kind of work ethic thing. McDermott has stated multiple times that everything is earned. If he's riding the bench every week, and guys like Hamlin are starting over him, there's gotta be somethjng else happening

He's cooked. No speed left. He's been slowing down for a couple years and instincts and experience can only take you so far.

I agree we started to see it last year when he was playing in a system he knew with players he knew on instinct... he wasnt gonna get faster and a new system and new players werent gonna make him more instinctual. I think he is kinda done as a starter... may be a nice depth piece for a bit for someone...

He visited the Colts before us in the offseason, they have a few guys in the secondary banged up, maybe we can flip him there for a late round pick and bring back Poyer?

Poyer will be back in Buffalo and playing Sunday! You heard it here first.

This is one of the things that pisses me off about McDermott!! His loyalty trait could become a detriment to getting over the top. Maybe Edwards can't grasp the scheme intellectually? Maybe he's not working hard enough in practice? If any of this is the case, then he's been on the roster too long!!

No one wanted him in offseason, why does he think he has value now?

And you know this how? Because no one else signed him after 6 days of free agency? 👌

I know McD has the habit of leaning on his guys but Hamlin has been playing very good, doubt he'll ever be elite but he has great tackling form , is always around the ball and rarely is out of position,  basically,  he's playing his 1/11th better than Edwards. I've seen no reason he should be on the bench
