Send him to whoever. If he hasn't done enough in practice to beat out Hamlin/Bishop/Rapp as the #2 then he's not even trying here. Yes I know FS/SS are different positions but still. It's not like our safeties are killing it. Our CBs have just been really good at covering it. Edited 12 hours ago by The Wiz

HappyDays
I'm sorry but it is laugh out loud funny that a career backup has the audacity to demand a trade. Hard pass for me, even if we got an offer which I doubt we would. Quality depth is an important attribute of championship teams. Edwards himself is a good example considering he had to step in for KC during their playoff run last year. A swap of 7ths or whatever isn't worth giving that up.
Saxum
Quote 2024-2024 Free Agent Mike Edwards signed a 1 year , $2,800,000 contract with the Buffalo Bills, including $1,000,000 signing bonus, $1,600,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $2,800,000. In 2024, Edwards will earn a base salary of $1,240,000, a signing bonus of $1,000,000 and a workout bonus of $50,000, while carrying a cap hit of $2,800,000 and a dead cap value of $1,600,000. If he has not talking about giving signing bonus he is not serious.

Elam is worse than Benford and Douglas and it's not close. Edwards I can't speak too as much because I haven't seen him play this year but I won't ever question McDermott on DBs. Deion Jones? He is a free agent, not even offered a PS spot anywhere. Why did you even bring him up? And Bishop is a rookie who blew a coverage so bad we gave up an uncontested 60 yard TD. I'll be critical of McDermott when warranted but none of these players have proven they belong on the field. 1

Any argument to trade Edwards is an argument to trade Elam. Any argument to keep Edwards is an argument to keep Elam. You know this is true. Super awesome “valuable” depth is literally anything but. There’s more than just those as well. One has real reason to question wtf is going on with Elam, Edwards, Bishop, Dion Jones etc, once McClappy anoints some one or decides he doesn’t like them, it’s only breakable by injury forcing it. Dion Jones? He sucked. That is why he was cut. He has been cut from 4 teams in 3 years. He is finished.

Alphadawg7
I mean I get why Edwards wants to be traded, he came here thinking he was in line to play and he hasn't yet. Should we...well I am still not sold he isn't better than Hamlin, and with all the injuries we seem to get every year, I think his value is better on the roster than what Beane would get in trade. Could he get traded still, sure, but I am leaning he probably doesn't as not sure he brings back enough value to make us thinner at a key part of McD's defense. As far as Elam goes, as I see some want to bring him up...Benford has been one of the best CB's in the league this year and Rasul is as well. Elam not starting has a lot less to do with "Elam" than it does with the fact the guys ahead of him are playing at a very high level. At the same time, we don't have a lot behind Benford and Rasul, and Elam has shown he can step in and make some plays. While an Elam trade is certainly possible, I am personally not sure they would trade him in a season where we have a legit SB shot right now, maybe the best one we have had in the Allen era TBH. He wouldn’t be the first DB on our team to spend a large majority of their time with us inactive/not playing but be in our plans the next year. Evidently Ingram is also playing at a higher level than elam. I would say it has some to do with what you said but also that the team is not happy with elams play. All things being equal he is by far the most athletic of them. Edited 10 hours ago by Matt_In_NH
billsfan89
I think if Edwards wants out and there's another team willing to toss the Bills a late round pick or possibly a late round pick swap for Edwards then I think they are going to do it. I would have liked to have seen him get an opportunity but McDermott and Co. are clearly in the camp of Hamlin and Bishop the rest of the season and letting Edwards go and bringing up another safety like Cine would be an easy transition. Wouldn't expect more than a late round pick swap or a solo draft pick. Could see the Bills wanting to get back that 2026 pick they gave up for Codrington. https://athlonsports.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/buffalo-bills-share-credit-but-one-unhappy-camper-asks-for-trade-super-bowl-mike-edwards https://www.si.com/nfl/bills/news/buffalo-bills-mike-edwards-available-for-trade Edwards is one of the more strange cases we’re seen in Buffalo. Usually when fans call for a player to get more time (Elam) it’s because they aren’t better than the players in front of them. I find it hard to believe that a veteran like Edwards who played at a high level in TB and KC isn’t good enough to play on Sunday.

NeverOutNick
I’d be pissed if I was him too. Inactive every week while Hamlin who can’t cover his mouth for a sneeze is starting week in and week out. He or Bishop need to be in over Hamlin (and I don’t want to hear about his tackle numbers…those are inflated because he leaves his corners on islands over and over)
