I have a Korean friend who used to joke that racists are so dumb, they can't even get their racism right.

Yep.  I would have a friend say “lets get ramen since that’s your culture.”

I love ramen so who cares.

YOU might not.

The significant minority of us, with a Special Needs family member, let alone friend- have.

ALL of our adult lives!

And some of us have battled for a generation or two to have certain words removed from public parlance- especially with certain, broad based, public authorities.

Trust me, I totally respect that. All I was saying is I haven’t heard this mentioned at all.

what are your thoughts? Should it be a bigger deal?

I don’t think Tom the Dork might to offend and probably has said something like that to Gronk. Just as there were things that my friends and I said to each other that are now very frown upon. And I’m not a bigger enough loser to argue for “my right” to say something if does enough someone.

Well said.  Free speech is under constant assault these days.

I haven’t been allowed free speech since I got married.

You have a very good grasp with that comment. I must say that sometimes, with the individual of the world stature of a Brady, it puts proper focus on these issues. So,it’s not huge overall, but good that it was focussed on.

There are kinds of sub issues here.
1) The appropriateness of certain words and what consequences they bear.

2) The legality of certain words in some jurisdictions and the different legal responses applied, where one does NOT have the “right” to say anything.

3) The use of certain rude words and whether, in polite conversation they should be used and whether anything at all should be done in response.

I personally try to avoid use of many words of 1), all of 2), but do indeed use some of the worst in 3).

Only a few persons need to be pilloried, but in this case, certainly not the GOAT.

This was news to me, but I'm not one of those who thinks people are being "overly sensitive".

When you know better, you do better.  That's the lesson here.

Under fire from who?

Honestly I've heard announcers reference Josh as Sugar-High Josh Allen but I don't think that offends diabetic people.

As a diabetic I can say it does not offend me but it makes me envious.

PETA objects to Brady being referred to as the "goat."

With five minutes left in the half, the Bills needed to put their foot on the petrol. A quick spasm of Allen’s right arm sent the ball towards an open Keon Coleman, whose progress was ######ed by his lack of footspeed. Despite this, he broke an attempted tackle by a defensive cretin and sprinted to the end zone.

Am I doing this right?

Your better off making up your own language probably.

Didn't see this posted anywhere else.  I'm all for respecting the handicapped and disadvantaged, but isn't this going a bit overboard?  I mean, there was a character in a movie nicknamed "spaz" and do we really have to critique people for comments that are clearly not intended to harm anyone?

Josh is a bit of a spaz... but so was Brady probably more so... pot and kettle thing something Brady himself was called on the playground... meh

Growing up I was Called a Spaz and other words, didn't care then I don't care now. This society is so butt hurt at the littlest thing and its pathetic.  And before anyone gets @ me, my 25 year old son has Asperger's, had an IEP throughout school so I have lived the experience.

My wife and I keep talking about our 2 1/2 week olds chubby arms as these "chubby little croissants" because this one part of his arm when you take a picture looks like little croissants.  So is the family of the person who invented croissants or bakers around the world going to get mad at me and try and cancel me for fat shaming croissants?

This need to over analyze a words use based on some obscure origin story almost nobody knows its a wild fad these days.  As a society we have migrated out of the information era and moved into an era of disinformation, outrage, and cancel culture.

So, searching for any articles related to this “fire” Brady is under turns up a few of basically the same article (including by the Times of India!) mentioning that some people made comments on social

media about his use of the term.

Much ado about nothing; but posting a headline without any further context or links just gets everyone worked up.

The one good thing to come out of this is knowledge that the term is offensive to some people, which I did not know.

I’ll never forget being roughly 7 years old and hearing the doctor explain “mentally ######ed” in regards to my brother. The clinical definition was and is spot on. However, if I dare say mentally ######ed when referring to MY BROTHER, society can’t wait to correct me.

I learned roughly a decade ago there’s only one group of people that get offended by nonsense like that and they don’t care about anything but themselves.

My brother is in the same boat and I love him and would defend him with my life BUT if I say the wrong word to try and describe his abilities then someone can come along and tell me that I'm wrong. I would never say anything to purposefully hurt him or anyone like him. When it comes to using terms that doctors, counselors and the like have used all my life and now be told by some rando that I can't say that, it's too much. Can I say he has a learning disability? Idk. Can I say he's in the spectrum? Idk. I have to walk on eggshells because what is/ was ok is not anymore but no one seems to know or agree on what IS ok. So basically I have to check with our politicians and celebrities to inform me.

15 pages of people whining about not being able to say what they want and yet not one single person has been able to show me examples of anybody actually complaining about Brady saying spaz.

I think we're done with the manufactured drama and imaginary outrage that is every bit as ridiculous and embarrassing as the PC police.
