Didn't see this posted anywhere else.  I'm all for respecting the handicapped and disadvantaged, but isn't this going a bit overboard?  I mean, there was a character in a movie nicknamed "spaz" and do we really have to critique people for comments that are clearly not intended to harm anyone?

A few caught this in the game day thread, he just let it fly without pause. Was more awkward than anything because he did it while rambling. Honestly didn’t mind Brady overall

We discussed this in the SB the other day. In the UK he'd have been fired, instantly. It is pretty much second only to the n word in terms of offensive terms you can't use. I understand it doesn't have the same baggage in the US but honestly it made me very uncomfortable. I mentioned it in the GDT

I believe "spaz" originated as short for "spastic" which was a descriptor for cerebral palsy.

It's kinda like how "moron" was an actual medical term before it was used to describe me in gameday threads.

I don’t care what he said, I’m just glad commentators are finally getting punished for spewing old Allen narratives.

Under fire from who?

Honestly I've heard announcers reference Josh as Sugar-High Josh Allen but I don't think that offends diabetic people.

Interesting.  I did not know that.  Thanks.  As kids we used that term all the time.

To be fair, Brady was saying that Josh used to play that way...

I feel like he was using it when complimenting him on throwing something away - implying he's growing as a player.

I honestly don't know how i feel about this......on one hand it may be offensive and yet on the other hand it has inspired so much of my work on these boards.

I hear you both, but the national media struggles to compliment him without including a “but”.

They can’t just compliment him. They have to dredge up the past. It’s a very consistent thing.

May be an unpopular comment, but everyone just seems overly sensitive these days.

Is it the right term to use? No

But jeez, not the end of the world as the media is having a field day with this

Agree, didn’t know the word was offensive in any way.  I probably have used it in some form over the past year still.

I can't tell if you are being serious or not but in the UK a word that rhymes with 'punt' is thrown out like crazy over there but it is a no-no word over in the US.

Considering (in our country) the social media Karens are all total spazzes, I can see why they got offended 😂

FWIW Brady was complimenting Allen when he made the reference.

Haha that’s the game.
