He had already been benched this year and on final year of his deal.

Swap of picks and Jags paid some of his remaining salary.

Seems like far more trades this year than typical NFL season.

Also a bunch of guys that are soon to be free agents.  Teams giving up potential comp pick for an actual pick or moving up in the draft.

There are several teams that are terrible and have no hope for 2024. Still several trades out there is my guess.

Oh yeah who knew David Quessenberry was still in the league???

Giants have the most sacks in the NFL. Wonder if there's anyone on there we can give a late round pick for

A 7th for Dexter Lawrence if they pay his salary?

I think you're right that teams are opting not to go for comp picks, and that makes sense if they signed more FAs than they lost, and so wouldn't be getting comp picks in the first place.

I very rarely get to watch the Giants but I saw some of his highlights. Serious question, is he the best, or one of the best DTs in the NFL, or was the great play from him that I saw on the highlights just an outlier?

He looked like freaking Leon Lett on some of the plays I saw.

Nah he is really good. I think his sack production so far this year is a bit of an outlier that is just one of those strange runs players can go on but as a run stopper and pocket pusher he is right up there. Especially since Daboll arrived and moved him to NT.

Seeing as Jacksonvilles D coordinator plays a lot of man coverages and that's what Elam was noted for in college why not try to trade him for someone the Bills could use .

Do they have anyone that could help the Bills out that they would want to trade ?

Sorry the pipelines are one way only. Carolina to Buffalo and Buffalo to the Giants.

There does seem to be a lot more trading than normal, and for really low compensation.

Draft pick value inflation has gotten out of control.

17 6th round picks from 2022 are already out of the league. Not on PS. Completely gone.

Of course, it only takes 2 sixths to trade for a solid starter lol.

he's awesome.

reminds me of the old adage "power fits all schemes".  i don't think he's available or would fit in our cap situation, but he might be one of the few guys (simmons in tenn, but i heard he might be playing hurt) who could match a myles garrett impact to our d

Uhhh Christian Benford was a 6th round pick from 2022... They're valuable if you know what you're doing 😉

The Bills had no idea Benford would be as good as he ended up being. They took a punter before him in the same round lol.

Every team thinks their 6th round picks will be Benford or Brady. Statistically, they won't be. Its the mystery box fallacy.

"Why would we trade a 6th round pick for a solid starter? A sixth round pick could be anything! It could even be a solid starter!"

I put the winky face to imply that i was joking.  I'd say 6-7 are crapshoots.  You're either projecting trait players you believe can be coached into NFL talent, or players who may lack the specific traits for the position, but pop on film.  If they played well and had the traits, they'd be drafted already - unless they're an off-field or team chemistry concern.

Yes, which is why I’d be shipping off 5ths, 6ths and 7ths all day long in the Josh Allen era for rentals.

You are getting guys who have shown something at the NFL level. Even if they leave in FA immediately after, they count toward comp pick formulas and replenish those picks anyway.

If there’s a decent LB out there that can be had cheaply, go get him, for example.

There's 2 major things that they provide.  They can be valuable depth, and they're usually cheap.  The extra picks the team has this year can help move around the draft, and potentially be used for kickers and punters.

So here's the thing. The Vikings got Robinson. When he walks next year in FA, he will count to the comp pick formula. It's not perfect but they will likely accrue some value back.

Valuable depth is an oxymoron. We saw our "valuable" depth at LB last year. We have seen it this year. Do you think a Deion Jones-type can't give us Baylon Spector level production? These end of the roster guys are just that. They aren't valuable. If they were valuable, they would be seeing the field and playing well.

Here's a list of late rounders drafted by the Bills since 2020, bolded are off the team/out of the league/not playing this season:

Fromm

Bass

Hodgins

Jackson

Doyle

Stevenson

Hamlin

Wildgoose

Anderson

Shakir

Araiza

Benford

Tenuta

Spector

Shorter

Broeker

Austin

SVPG
Ulofoshio

Solomon

Grable

Hardy

Clayton

I get it. Shakir and Benford have been excellent. They are the equivalent of striking gold. You don't want zero late round picks. But they are total crapshoots.

If Dawkins went down, I would have done the Cam Robinson deal or something similar in two seconds. The value of these picks is completely overstated in the NFL, and that means the seller of those picks is going to make the profit.

I haven't watched them closely either, and there's no way they're trading him. But he is a beast.
