Like really bad. I’m glad Coleman can get jump balls because yikes.

I still feel that we’re missing a true burner, someone for Josh to just chuck it and let him run underneath it.

We never had one of those since John Brown

Shakir is the best receiver we have ever had by catch percentage... his ability in this area is simply uncanny. Normally HBs and TEs dominate this stat, but Shakir is like a Hoover vacuum. 86.7% last year and 94.7% this year for catch percentage is outer worldly! Separation, shmeparation if you can catch...

I disagree with some posters. I think this stat has some bite to it.

We’ll see if Brady can continue to scheme the WRs open if they’re not creating separation.

The true burner comes in the offseason. Maybe with more than one shot. I trust in the roster building.

Keon gets his in his own way. Cooper gets separation. Shakir does too. The three of them healthy and playing transforms our passing game. No Shakir no Cooper is not something I want to see again...

Sucks to be you.

I’m happy. I’m enjoying it.  Stew in misery more

How it is possible to have negative separation?

I believe that's called penetration.  Thankfully I've never witnessed it during a football game.

I do not believe for a second that whoever made this mess had the slightest clue what the hell they were looking at.

You have two different QB's listed for both Carolina and Indianapolis.

In both cases they are somehow on opposite ends of the separation spectrum?

With the same receivers?

Bo Nix, Justin Fields and Will Levis are all more accurate than Josh Allen?

The entire thing is patently ridiculous.

Yep and people lap it up as analytical truth instead of using it as just a tool to enhance/augment what they see with an understanding of the game. Statistical paralysis has taken over the measure of the game because now everyone thinks they can be an expert and feel included in those discussions. Not all separation looks the same, nor can it be measured the same way.

That's when the defender is in you back pocket.

Sure it does.  Separation is important, and stas like this are important to coaches when they're trying to improve performance.  However, when you're one of the beat passi g teams in the league, it isn't cause for concern.  EVERY team has some negative stays on one category or another. KC is about 20th in passer rating.

The part I’m interested in is to what degree the lack of separation is having an impact on Josh’s waning accuracy this year. His on target percentage is well below any of his prior years outside his rookie season. I

I’ve always felt like he needs to see his guy get open to feel fully comfortable. This is why he’s always had more success with good separators like Beasley, Shakir, and Diggs. Some will disagree with this of course, but I bet we start to see his on target percentage improve throughout the rest of the season now that we have better balance across our receiving corps and are subject to less cover one janky defenses.

Like how we were always dead last in YAC for many of the past seasons...
