T master Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Well could be considered another good move by Beane kind of Belichek esk in a way, get rid of a player while he's still decent and can produce but their chances of having a injury to where you may not have their services due to a injury goes up because of their age . Right - so anyone they add now is just essentially adding more picks to that trade with the result being filling the spot opposite collins. Quote

It’s still second guessing a trade that was short circuited by serious injury when Diggs was healthy his whole career. Houston wanted a veteran star for this season to be a steadying influence on a young receiver room and 2nd year QB. According to his coaches and teammates he did that in a big way.Shortening the financial long term hit was beneficial to the team because they can retain him with a tag or an appropriate contract depending on his performance. Diggs can still have a positive affect even if he’s not playing. I think the benefit of signing a star receiver sends a message to your team that you’re all in which helps with FAs. Quote

Dionate went to the Ravens, Not sure Ridley's contract is tradable he signed a 4 year massive deal. Mike Williams is on a much smaller deal. Only hang-up with Williams is that his deal has a lot of void years tacked onto it. He's got a 5.8 million dollar void year dead cap next year and then 3 smaller dead years of 800k afterwards. Not sure how void years work on a contract. But the Jets after the Devante trade have a glut at receiver and aren't using Williams anyway so if they can get a late round pick might as well take it. Ballin, I always liked your posts, and some wanted to rewrite history when Diggs was a 1500 yard WR, and made Josh better. I didn’t like his diva crap either, but he just made the team better. The similar fact is he was at the beginning of the decline, and Beane shrewdly dumped him and received a 2nd for it. We ate a big salary, but cleaned the deck for next year. I truly hope he comes back and plays with his brother as that was a dream come true for both siblings. He just won’t get paid #1 $. So what as between the Bills and Texans he netted $31 mil. This year. Good for him. We picked up Cooper for $800k. Not a bad deal. We’ll need to pay him next year, but that’s next year. As much as I would froth at the mouth for Myles Garrett, and would only cost $800k this year, trying to get two high end contract extensions is probably too much. Vons back so this will add to the line, Bernard sounds like he’s back, reading between the tea leaves, Milano may be back in December. Dorian has done an admirable job, and will do well, but he not Milano by any standards in coverage. We only have him for two more years so he bides his time with only partial play, amd we don’t extend Milano. Quote
