Man, we got ripped off in the Cooper trade.  How is Johnson essentially just a pick swap of nothing?

Cooper is much better than DJ

Does he catch the ball in the cold yet?

My understanding is that he has gotten better with it, although I have not seen that with my own eyes.

It was an absolute circus in Pittsburgh; one of the quickest WRs you'll ever see in your life yet nobody was afraid of him.

Baltimore is a scary freaking team.

until the playoffs.

some things are just true. Dallas is good until December. The Steelers always try really hard and over perform until being exposed. The eagles always choke. the chiefs refs always win cheat. the jets always jet.

baltimore will run out of steam in december and run on fumes to the playoffs and flounder.

maybe that's the hope. they can use him as a gadget guy and when lamar can get him the ball he's going to be able to cruise.

Johnson is a slower WR that runs great routes. He gets open short but not someone defenses fear downfield. Cooper is already attracting a safety over top.

Fwiw, his numbers look like this:

3 TDs in 7 games

Averaging about 4 catches for 50 yrds per game

Still only bringing in 50% of his targets

Missed their last game with a "rib" injury

I don't know how much the numbers were affected by QB play and I don't know if he was really hurt or just bubble-wrapped for a trade.

Very relevant. Look at the money.

Always follow the money.... No doubt Beane getting the Cooper trade done early was clutch as he's the only move the needle WR that Buffalo could fit into the cap.

He’s averaged 6.2 yards per target on the season.  Some of that is attributable to poor QB play, but he’s 6.8 for his career.  He’s the epitome of a stat collector via volume of targets.  He’d be a great pickup for a team like Tampa (or Kansas City pre-Hopkins) who just doesn’t have any healthy targets, but I’m not sure what he does for Baltimore.

Meh. Never really rated him. I think that is cheap compared to what Carolina paid 6 months ago. Tells you all you need to know about him. Average player, bad teammate.

I agree with this. I don't think he's enough of an improvement over what they have for it to make a real difference.

All I know is they traded a player and a pick for him in March and now gave him away for basically nothing halfway through the season. Obviously they weren't impressed. The price tag tells you what the rest of the league thought also.

I'm only a little spooked by it and just because of his athleticism.

If Harbaugh and Co. can turn Lamar Jackson into a viable NFL QB can they do something similar with Johnson?

Overrated. The Steelers always get the most out of their receivers. They never seem to be quite the same when they leave Pittsburgh. Amari Cooper is much, much better.

How do other GMs not up the price on this? I will never understand. Washington? Chargers? Texans? Cowboys? Broncos? Steelers? Buccaneers?

All have a need. It was such a low pick swap.

Yea it's really hard to believe that's the best they could get. A lot of WR needy teams out there.

Exactly. Even getting a 7th is better than what they got.

And the nfc just sitting there twiddling their thumbs like they do every offseason and trade deadline.  Seems like McVay is the only one looking to win super bowls over there
