Diontae Johnson to the Ravens (now released for being a Johnson)

I think his best season was the season the Bills played Pitt and the Bills got pumped up by the Steelers 4th quarter song and won. Like I said I believe that was his best season and that night vs the Bills he was awful. He drops a lot of pass. I didn't think he was ever good. Perhaps average

All short term signings, hoping for a quick fix or improvement.  Like the guy who keeps buying cans of 'Fix a Flat', instead of taking the car down to the tire shop for a proper repair.

It is interesting that his career trajectory literally looks like a mountain (or hill) that peaked back in 2021. That is, when he entered the league back in 2019 he progressively got better in terms of targets, receptions and TDs each year until 2021 when he hit his high water mark with 100+ receptions, 1100+ yards and 8 TDs, career highs in every category. Since 2021 he has progressively DECLINED in targets, receptions and yards.

 

So the upside is simply not there to warrant the challenges he presents.

 

Let him become some other team's headache.

Agree, but would have no problems with signing him to the PS for injury insurance.

The only spot where I'd disagree is his athletic ability.

While I haven' seen him recently, I saw him plenty in P'burgh and he was literally one of the quickest human beings I have ever seen in my life.

He was still a dipstick that couldn't catch a cold, but by gawd could that boy move.

Sends the wrong message to the team.  The WR room is tight, and injury free.  Why even mess around with this guy?

Has to clear a lot of waivers first. And some teams have no choice but to bring him in. I could see Houston, Seattle as playoff teams wanting him

 

I could see New Orleans, Cincinnati, or the Giants bringing him in just to do so. Especially Cinci.

Can we stop talking about this receiver or entertaining thoughts of bringing him in? I said back when he was a Steeler he was the type of guy you’d want to move on from and nothing has changed. In fact it’s gotten worse for him.

after Miami waived OBJ & now the Ravens released Diontae, its definitely possible OBJ goes back to Baltimore, since he's already familiar with their offense. Last year he caught 35 passes for 565 yards & 3 tds for them. With Bateman getting dinged up, I could see him going back there for sure. But I know the fans in Pittsburgh are calling for him to come back, as they have a need at wideout as well. Sean McVay of the Rams already said OBJ's not an option, so that would leave KC as another possible destination.

I'd expect some playoff caliber team to kick the tires on him. Especially since Miami released him exactly so he can join someone else... Not many players of his caliber are available this time of year. I doubt he'd want to come here, but I personally wouldn't be against it. He could make just 1 catch as a BILL, but it could be exactly what we need at that time, who knows? He wont make or break a squad at this point. But he still can be a serviceable depth wr in the playoffs for someone.

Well it’s not coincidence that was Big Ben’s last ride. 
 

As much as Ben declined, he could still sling it. Just not to the volume Pittsburgh were asking him to. It was something absurd like an average of 38 attempts per game that season. 
 

Johnson saw almost the same targets the following season but the talent @ QB, Pickett & Mitch, is a sizable step down from a poor Big Ben. 
 

To the upside not being there statement. Absolutely. That’s too much of a challenge for what the production would/could be. Headache indeed.
