Is that way too much? Way too little? Not even in the zip code of acceptable for either side? https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/14414/khalil-mack Throw in Josh Allen and just do it Beane! Why on earth would a 6-2 team, almost certainly going into the playoffs, trade a sold edge, another young defender who hasn't reached his ceiling, and a couple of draft picks, include a #1, for a 9 game rental (I assume his 'expiring contract' ends after this season). You can't be serious. I'm going to assume you're not yet 12-years-old. Thank God you're not the GM. 1
MiracleAtRich1393
I appreciate all the responses and laughed at many of them, my question was "what would it take?" not "I would personally do this, is it dumb or not?" Definitely led with an extreme, so I can see how people reacted so negatively. LOLLL Trying to figure out what a clearing level would be that both sides would be amenable to, if at all. My point was I think we'd have to overpay because the Chargers are still in it, but how much of an overpay, and what compensation would be worth it to get a potential game wrecking edge that would also get the Chargers to bite. Some think Mack isn't that anymore (or never was), and I appreciate that view and if that's the case I wouldn't do it for any price. Others see 17 sacks last season (admittedly me) and say damn we could use that to get past KC. If Von can get back to being that type of player for us then great, that's what he's here for. I hope that's how it plays out! But I wouldn't necessarily bet on it. I think a game wrecking DLineman is the last piece to get this roster over the hump and I hope Beane can make a move for someone somehow at a fair price or even a slight overpay before the deadline. I say overpay in a vacuum, but some things are worth more to one side because they're closer to a goal, hence the question "what would it take?" One poster likened Mack at this point to the early season version of Leonard Floyd before he fell off a cliff, which I liked. Maybe the better question would be what's the max you would pay to add that type of skill set/production for the stretch run this season, and would that be enough to get a (hopefully) 4-4 team with a new regime perhaps thinking more long term to bite? We aren't trading for a DE . It's not a need. We are actually quite deep there. It's a useless exercise/topic.

There are guys who collect stats and guys who make a difference. Mack was never a difference maker for any team he played for. The fact he's moved around tells you that as well. And don't skate past the age thing. You'd think signing Von Miller would be enough of a lesson. 1

He was a complete beast on those Bears teams that almost made a run with Mitch Trubisky at QB 🤣 And the age thing obviously but that's mitigated by a contract as short and small as Cooper's so not quite the commitment like Von
JÂy RÛßeÒ
When we jumped up to #4 in the 2014 draft I was like 'holy crap we're gonna get Khalil Mack!'. Instead, football genius Doug Whaley took Sammy Watkins. I will say that when I saw Mack's name on a list of impending free agents a month or 2 ago I thought maybe we finally right that wrong and bring him back where he should have been.

I see it was his 2nd year after an injury..... but how does he drop from 17 to a pace of 7 this year? Dude was injured, recovered last year and played lights out, and then hit the wall with age this year? Thats possible without him turning himself into a human pin cushion for sure, but unlikely, and I want no part of it at this point, and certainly not for any real compensation, or any at all even if he was a FA Give Soloman those reps

HUGE NT's big DE's and LB's that can attack. They hold against a LB coming off the corner is a hell of a lot more obvious and tougher to do as you don't know where the attack is coming from. Pass This is a ridiculous and uninformed take. Come on! He has had a *fantastic* career. He is a four time all pro, he won Defensive player of the Year once, and finished second in DPOY voting another time. The time he finished second, for the 2018 Bears, that defense finished first overall in the league. He has 105 lifetime sacks and a lifetime AV (via PFR’s WAR-like metric) of 116, which is creeping toward hall of fame level. As for last season, the Chargers had a TON of problems in their secondary and he STILL had 17 sacks. He was hardly the problem last season. He is also durable, having missed only 12 games in an 11-year career. Edited November 2 by dave mcbride 1 1

And he had 11 sacks over the next 13 games. Let’s say that the 6 is an outlier and that he only deserved 2 (a stupid argument but you get my point). That’s still 13, which is more than any Bill has had since 2014. Comment from Mack: ‘"I felt like I would look on Twitter and people would be like, '17 sacks, but he had six in one game'. It's like, damn, is that a bad thing? Maybe I shouldn't have gotten six in one game. Maybe I should've did three," Mack said with a laugh.’ On 11/1/2024 at 12:54 PM, PromoTheRobot said: There are guys who collect stats and guys who make a difference. It’s just factually wrong, and obviously so.
