nedboy7
I loved this signing at the time. I think once they are able to use him he will be a great addition.

Agree and he’s had like 8 targets. It’s not even the halfway point in the season. He may be needed.. so why would we doing anything but get him in the mix when he’s healthy? I chose to look at him as a weapon yet to be used and he will impact some plays in the 2nd half. The Bills have added many vet FA’s and some have really contributed. He will get a chance to provide value just when the Bills might need it.
Jimmy Harris 69 Posted yesterday at 03:10 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:10 AM From the first Samuel has been miscast as a gadget player. The injuries set him back but the game usage is baffling. We see Mack Hollins running fly routes against Houston instead of Samuel. I know Mack is a super guy and a good blocker, special teamer, etc, etc….but he doesn’t have 9.3 speed, their 24 million dollar guy has that. Something doesn’t fit. It would be nice if this signing doesn’t go down as total shite.
BigAl2526
The nagging injury is a concern, but I'm assuming he went to IR to give him time to heal up. Injuries happen. I'm more concerned that the Bills sometimes seem to typecast players into roles when they have potential to do more. Yes, Curtis Samuel should theoretically be able to fill the role of a gadget player, but he should also be able to line up outside and run a full route tree as well as line up in the slot. I can't understand why they didn't have him play a more varied role.
T master
19 hours ago, TFBillsfan said: With the recent add of Cooper, the Bills current record and the state of the AFCE, should the Bills place Samuel on IR? This would allow him to get healthy and be a contributor for the stretch run. It seems obvious his turf toe has been a nagging injury. He’d be back for the 49er game. Thoughts? If he can get healthy and contribute more than he has to t his point then yes but if he comes back and does more of what he has to this point he is more like the Sherfield signing of last year just taking up a roster spot where another player like the young WR pulled up last week might be able to make a difference . I'd release him if we didn't have to eat a ***** ton of money. Isn't 18M of his 24M guaranteed? The only way for us to get out of this contract is to trade him and have the receiving team pick up his year #2 and #3 guaranteed money Or he may become our MVS in the playoffs. In that sense, getting him on IR is a good strategy. Allow him to heal and be ready for the playoffs. That's not the cap hit but dead money. Like it or not, he's on the team this year and next. 14.5M in dead cap is chump change for Beane.

The blocking on screens was so bad…he had a couple huge plays set up if one of our 3 olinemen standing around could block one defender 🤣. I still think he turns it around a bit if he ever gets healthy he’s a proven player
Matt_In_NH
only if he needs at least 4 weeks to get heathy otherwise absolutely no
Maynard
I would. Let that toe heal up. With a healthy Cooper, Shakir, and Coleman we are good to go anyway.
colin
i thought he'd be way more productive for us, he's really fast, but doesn't look it. I think his toe/foot is a mess and a quickness guy w a bad wheel is basically useless. hopefully he heals up and gets better, so ya IR might be where he needs to go. if he can become a solid contributing guy, we can get a lot of value from him. i kinda wish we spent the money we spent on him on a quality nfl safety and drafted another wr at this point. i was really big on bishop coming out of utah, but he's shown zilch so far, so that's a 2nd pick and a bigger fa contract contributing zero. oldmanfan
Saying it was a terrible signing is absurd. The guy has been hurt the entire season. I agree; put him on the 4-week IR, heal him up, then we'll have something. 1

He's more of an insurance policy at this point shoudl someone else get hurt. On another note. NFL should institute retroactive IR. This would give teams a week or two to figure out if they need to go on IR for the full four weeks. Now if he needs IR it will ne 6 weeks of no games played.
