PoundingDog Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Go back to the past a bit; look at how Milano got into the starting lineup in 2017. There was an article from D&C then https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/2017/12/15/buffalo-bills-rookie-linebacker-matt-milano-boston-college-nfl/953564001/ Milano replaced Ramon Humber last 4 games in 2017 season. The lucky part was he got two audition opportunities because Humber was hurt. Note the article also had a number of players' quotes which pretty much had fellow players noticing Milano thru games & practice. Bishop got one chance in that Texans game., arguably lost the game with the mishap, giving up Collins' long TD. If he had another chance to show what he has learned and improved upon that, maybe McDermott and Co. might have more confidence, as well as to the rest of the teammates. From management perspective, it is hard to switch when the team is winning and no glaring mistakes from Hamlin unless Bishop is really turning heads in practice. At this point, my guess is that the bye week, 3 games away, is where the team management will assess the team weakness holistically. If the team goes 3-0, which is a distinct possibility, they will surely look into the playoff run and assessing the team more from the perspective of measuring up against the likes of the Chiefs and Ravens, even specifically from the match-up angle and purposely looking for internal development towards those match-ups. 6 1 1 1 Quote

Mystery solved. I understand. I have a 4 year old and 6 month old Pomeranians. They mostly go on their pee pads or outside. But they like to piss on the soft rugs we have in front of the couches and bed. Something about soft padding under their freaking feet Quote

I hate this "sit and watch and learn BS" It pure BS, you get better by DOING and if we want this kid to be half way ready in the playoffs then start him now. Typically I would agree, but we have the Terrel Bernard case study to go off of. If he isn't starting, there's clearly a reason why. It doesn't me that he won't explode on the scene the next year. 2 Quote

Then make a trade before the deadline and get someone in here on a short deal to get us through the rest of the year, that and a D Lineman Quote
Captain_Quint Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Miami's offense looked alot better last week with Mostart and Tua back. They know the season is on the line, but they knew that last year when we beat them at home in week 18. I think we win a 'closer than it should be' game. 1 Quote
Don Otreply Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Like I’ve said previously, It’s a division game, they can end up being a slug fest, desperate teams do desperate stuff, we have to come out fast and out physical them from the first snap, 1 Quote
Coffeesforclosers Posted October 31 Posted October 31 The only thing that would concern me is Miami handing the ball off 40+ times. That would be pragmatic and dare I say, creative. However, McDaniels thinks creativity means scheming up crossing routes to WRs, so we're fine. Quote
ColoradoBills Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Hope Brandon C is okay. I really like him in the return roles. 1 3 Quote
eball Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Codrington would be a pretty significant loss. Despite his gaffe last week (catching punt at the 2) he has been a very pleasant surprise in the return game. Hope the fact he rejoined practice means it was just a temporary scare. 1 Quote
RunTheBall Posted October 31 Posted October 31 The most important thing this defense is designed to do is not give up the big play. Bishop getting absolutely torched in the Houston game signed his bench ticket until next season. McD would much rather have a guy in there who doesn’t give that up even if he doesn’t make many big plays at the safety position, that’s Hamlin. If Edwards can’t get on the field even though he’s been here through the first 8 games then no way do we bring in a safety who’s never been in the system unless it’s an all pro guy like Baker or Honey Badger and I doubt we are doing either of those. 2 4 Quote

And there's the important point that it's not just "practice makes perfect" it's "correct practice makes perfect". One question is: who is taking the leadership role in getting the DBs on point and in their correct role for each play? We know that Hyde held that leadership role. When Hyde went out, Poyer took it on with Hamlin. When Poyer moved into the box to replace Dodson and Rapp came in on passing downs last year, it was Hyde. So this season, is it Rapp, or is it Hamlin? My gut says, it's Hamlin, and McDermott doesn't trust Rapp in that role yet, let alone rookie Bishop. There's a "mic'd up" segment with Hamlin where it's pretty clear Hamlin is taking a bit of a leadership role pep-talking the DBs, which supports that. I think folks have a skewed view because Williams and Bernard were both 3rd round picks so folks expected them to take a bit longer to come up to speed vs. a 2nd round pick like Bishop (though there were those who felt they were wasted picks because they didn't contribute much their 1st year). 2 Quote
pi2000 Posted October 31 Posted October 31 It's 8 weeks now since Josh hurt his hand against the Cardinals. If he broke something, it should be good by now? Quote
