Have Bills ever won a game on a Hail Mary?

Sone of the best Bills home games in the 80's (and even some in the 90's) were blacked out. Like this, the 1984 game when were were 0-11 and stunned 7-4 Dallas, and the 1992 comeback playoff win vs. Houston.

the Miracle at Rich was blacked out locally! After halftime we all went outside to play football in the street with my dad listening to it on a portable Walkman playing all-time QB and we re-enacted the comeback plays in real time. Seared into my brain more than the actual game probably would have been haha (clearly)

Great post...I too was playing football in the street with my brother and the neighborhood kids and listening to the game on the radio and I'll never forget it!

1981 vs. New England.  I was there.

Hooks' catch before the TD was even more remarkable.

This was my first game ever in person. My dad took 10 yr old me and my younger brother. We were in the aisle on our way out when the play happened, and all I remember was that it was freezing, my view was blocked by adults, and then a crazy cheer as Hooks made the catch.  It was still very exciting even though I didn’t really see the play.

I was there as well.

In the parking lot with my Dad when it happened. ☹️

We all have to forgive.  “C’mon, son, I’ll teach you how to beat the crowd.”

I was there, upper deck, and 20 years old.

I was there too.

Walked in the corridor just before Hooks stretch out catch, heard the roar, went back to our seats 😀

I was there too.  And i forget who took me, but we left just before that final drive and I heard the screams and cheers in the parking lot with 1,000's of other fans that left too soon...  kind of a bummer lol.

One of my favorite Bills moments.

Hooks was a hero on that final drive.

My favorite backup Bills RB.  This game cemented his place in my Bills nostalgia.

I was in the EZ the Bills were driving away from.  I always say seeing from behind, the long pass down the middle to Hooks before the TD was probably the greatest sports play I've seen live.  To see the pass launch to seemingly nowhere then hooks just fly parallel out of nowhere - i will never forget the image

I was there with my brother, and when people started leaving in droves when the game seemed over I said to him "We're not leaving - it's going to be an Alcoa Fantastic Finish!" (for those old enough to get the reference)

Yep, it was definitely blacked out.

That prior catch is in the clip above.

I watched this clip a few years ago and when I saw it I racked my brain as to why I only had a vague memory of it happening. Even as a kid I  used to watch the Bills every week back then. The 1980 season was awesome and so was this season (1981) but thanks for explaining the blackout. I should have been watching on CH2 NBC out of Buffalo back then but the NFL's draconian blackout rules put the kibosh on that. I probably saw the highlights on the 6pm news that night. Too bad, an awesome piece of Bills history, would have loved to have seen it live.

Wildest thing of the black out rules was the fact they didn't end until 2011. The NFL for how aggressive and good they are with marketing took until only 13 years ago to realize blacking out games is bad haha

I was there to hear the fans go nuts. Unfortunately, I was just outside the stadium as the people I’d gone with decided we should leave and beat the crowd. One of the games I was with that had a storied ending , and I missed those plays. 😢

It seems that just about everyone was there at the Hooks game to watch that incredible catch..........for the record, i wasn't there

The top two games which the entire city of Buffalo has said they attended are the Comeback and Snowbowl. I always laugh with the Snowbowl as I was there front row with pics to prove it and at max there was 58k there (still impressive given the weather) yet I have met so many people who apparently attended.

This game might be entering the third slot for people in attendance but are probably lying/confused hah.
