I always appreciate when they win but have noticed are something now like 17-3 when the lead is over 7 points while barely .500 when the point differential is less than a score. That is because we do not know how to win in close ball games, we don't know how to be tough when there is a monkey on our back, to power through the challenges, and just win. Instead of us going in there and blowing these lesser teams out we need to work our depth players in more to get them reps, work on different plays and schemes which may let the other team stay in the game. This will keep the game score closer and allow us to learn to be tough. This will give us no other option but to take a few shots to the face and still have to fight. All teams win more with major leads than in close games. 1

corta765
After yesterdays win this is the last take I was expecting to read and my only advice is watch the Jets/Pats game if you want to see what life is like without 17 in the future and you cannot just appreciate good football
GASabresIUFan
A couple of facts. Didn’t the Bills just set the record for most games played with either a win or loss by one score or less? As to playing depth players, the Bills rotate to varying degrees 3 RBs, 5WRs, 3TEs, and 9 DL. They also have played more LBs and DBs this season than ever but admittedly this stems from injuries to starters. Only depth OL don’t play much except Anderson who plays regularly. As to the close games, I think you’ll find that many were against similar high end teams. I’d also like to see the home vs road splits. Where I do think the Bills need to change, especially when (if?) the LBs get healthy, is to play a 3rd LB against tough running teams like Baltimore. Our D scheme is a terrible matchup against them. GunnerBill
We all know the main mistake they made yesterday was winning a game against an NFC team. Everyone is aware that reduces your playoff chances. 1 3 1

Why not let those guys get some reps, and protect our starters from getting pointless injuries in garbage time? Yes but that's not what it sounds like the OP is suggesting. He wants to put the backups in when it was say 17-3, and say they give up a TD so now 17-10. According to him this will help the Bills learn how to win close games by being in nail biters to the very end. He wants to see the Bills win games by say only maybe 7 to 10 points, keep it close so they learn how to win these type of games better. So while I agree that can help, but the likelihood is some of these nail biters are going to become L's instead of W's just based on law of averages. I wonder if this is the same person a few years back who was arguing it's better to lose non conference games than to win them all?
