All_Pro_Bills Posted October 28 Posted October 28 (edited) If there are gripes about players the Bills didn't draft it would be players that got picked after their actual selection, not players picked before it. Otherwise its just a hypothetical argument based on the assumption there was some trading partner ready and willing to move back to allow the Bills to jump up to pick some player like Thomas and Beane decided not to pull the trigger on the move up. Mustapha has 30 total tackles (13 solo 17 assisted), 1 int returned for 1 yard, and 4 passes defended. 0 sacks and 0 forced fumbles too for good measure. Taylor Rapp has 33 total tackles (17 solo, 16 assisted), 0 ints, and 4 passes defended. Also 2 huge plays in the Jets game to break up passes. Damar Hamlin - resident whipping boy has 47 total tackles (34 solo, 13 assisted), 2 ints for 19 yards, and 5 passes defended. 2x the player you say? How many 49er games have you watched this year be honest. Here is your boy getting trucked by Mahomes: 1 1 Quote

Here is your boy getting trucked by Mahomes: I’ve watched 6 of their games and I’ll take him over any safety the Bills have rolled out by a long shot. Stats don’t tell the story for secondary players. Example, Sauce Gardner has a lot less tackles than most CBs because the ball never goes near him. Rapp also cost the Bills games by taking out his own player for weeks on end, where’s that show up? Hamlin is the Paul Poz of safety’s, gets his stats because he makes the tackle after it matters. He’s a solid tackler, if he takes the right angles, but he’s a back up AT BEST in the NFL, he does not belong in the position he’s in, he wouldn’t be starting if they had any quality players at all at the position. 4 minutes ago, section122 said: 1 Quote
Mat68 Posted October 28 Posted October 28 For what the Bills need Coleman looks to be it. Physical player. Pancaked and Moss’d Woolen. The largest Cb in the league. Literally, threw the other corner into the team bench on a run block. Woolen followed Coleman all game. As Talented Thomas is Idk how more productive he would be over Coleman. Since the release of MVS he has gotten more snaps as the x in heavy sets and really taken off. Bishop missed the entire training camp. He could be good he could be a bust. It is too early to write off Bishop. I liked Mustapha coming out. He is more a box player. Im not sure he beats out Rapp and the perceived weakness in the room has Hamlin plays a totally different style. Quote
dma0034 Posted October 28 Posted October 28 (edited) Cool I love it. Are we going to skip over the bad players too? This isn't a Gronk/Troup situation where everyone in Buffalo was confused. I like Brian Thomas Jr and so did the Jags. He's been great but I'm also seeing Coleman getting better. I'd rather have Coleman over Worthy, Legette and Pearsell. He's better than any WR drafted behind him except possibly McConkey. He's been better than Rome Odunze too..... and you could argue Marvin Harrison Jr too. Edited October 28 by dma0034 Quote

Someone is going to sleep. I don't know who, but someone, possibly a teammate, is getting lit up if thats Rapp. 2 Quote

Was crumpled. Inwatch every Niners game. He’s been better than his PFF grade but not great. I prefer Bishops upside. Hopefully he has mental ability to become the S that McDermott envisioned 1 1 Quote

And, what other names did the Bills pass on in this year’s draft that you wish we drafted? What if the Bills had taken Mean Joe Greene instead of OJ Simpson and built the Steel Curtain instead of the Electric Company? Or how about Dwight Freeney instead of Mike Williams in 02'? I can keep going! Quote

I did notice our S’s play fairly well against the team with the most passing yards in the NFL. And I think they are average not great. But they are doing their job. Quote
BigAl2526 Posted October 29 Posted October 29 I am not especially a fan of Rapp and Hamlin, but they are doing OK in what the Bills are asking them to do. Buffalo needs safeties in their system who are smart enough to handle a fairly complex scheme that does a lot of things to confuse opposing QBs. Poyer and Hyde had it down cold. Hamlin and Rapp are probably not quite as smooth, but they know what they're doing. I think Buffalo at some point would like to have a pair of safeties who are somewhat more athletic, but can still handle the mental challenges. Maybe Cole Bishop can be part of that future tandem, but they need another one. Quote
poblano Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Maybe you're really talking of Ji'Ayir Brown (2nd year player) and at this moment the best safety in SF because of injuries, and by the way the safety position is the weakest spot in SF defense by far (even with a healthy Hufanga). Both Buffalo safeties are above regular, but Mustapha isn't even at that level in this moment Quote

He’s a future all pro, and a position the Bills were highly invested in predraft. Mustapha was a day 3 pick. I love watching him play. I like Bishop, I think, but McDermott doesn’t like him as much as any HC in the league would love Malik Mustapha. And receiver. I’ll say the unpopular thing at the moment. Bills should’ve traded up to draft Brian Thomas Jr. I appreciate Coleman’s production. He’s ahead of schedule, and I didn’t fully expect it. But Thomas is a ten top ten WR1 real soon. I know we can’t have it all, but I wish we got these two. Any players that the Bills probably should’ve have drafted based on projections, but avoided in order to draft that position with better results? And, what other names did the Bills pass on in this year’s draft that you wish we drafted? We should’ve drafted him because of his name alone. Mustapha sounds like a guy that kills lions with his bare hands in his spare time Quote

I don’t think it will be this season necessarily but next season will be a different story. Missing so much camp is pretty hard to come back from as a rookie. Quote
