They gave Diggs more upfront to keep him happy, and brought him to a one year deal so he was in a contract year for extra motivation/good behavior. So if he crushed it and got big money in the offseason, they would be in the comp pick formula too. Of course, the best laid plans. Trade and contract rework now looks like a disaster. He will get a Tre White-type deal 1 year, $10M with the Cowboys next year and the Texans will still have $16M in dead voids next year. all for a second rounder and 8 games of Diggs. Fortunately for them it doesn't hurt nearly as much when you have your QB on a rookie deal! 1 Quote
Mat68 Posted October 29 Posted October 29 It’s easy to take the bait here. He was a truly special player for Buffalo. The trade was one of the better offseason moves in team history. Terrible to see. Wish him the best. On a one year deal is tough spot for him to be in. When the time comes I think he will be a beloved member of Bills Mafia. Similar to Fitz. 5 3 2 4 Quote

So getting this year fully guaranteed was the correct move. If that's true then you are right. I thought he had guaranteed money going into next year. Quote

They didn't bother--just anted him out as Houston was the only buyer in the market for Diggs. This trade wasn't demanded by Diggs.... They cannot make another team do anything. They would have to agree. You don’t know what drove the trade but you think you do , it’s fine. Let’s move on. 1 Quote

With Nico set to make $18M that’s $34M down on two players who aren’t even playing right now. They will manage, but it always comes due. Our own Bills correctly played fast and loose with the cap when Allen was making peanuts but it comes due. 1 Quote

TH3 Posted October 29 Posted October 29 He was great for the Bills for 3.5 years. That catch and throw from JA 17 against the lions to set up a GW fg was unbelievable. 1 Quote

I do not think Diggs will be invited to be "Player of the game" for many years. 4 Quote

Or publicly say that Buffalo was his favorite team? Is he going to start showing up to press conferences goofily wearing his teammates clothes? Maybe while he recovers he can grow a beard many believe to be a national treasure? There is no way, no how, that Diggs ever loves this team and these fans the way guys like Ryan Fitzpatrick does. Zero. He can’t because he’s wildly self absorbed. And because of that he’ll never be in the same club as guys like Fitz. 11 2 2 Quote

Yeah, and its unfortunate for Diggs, never want to see someone go down with this kind of injury. I was also really looking forward to sending him and Houston home in the playoffs too. I got nothing against him, but it would have been fun to see us end his season in his "grass is greener" season with Houston. Quote

I think you see how he reacts to Minnesota.. very standoffish... I expect nothing from him with regards to this team... I think he is gonna be OBJ and hire himself out to the team he thinks has a shot at winning a SB or in a place he wants to play. Quite honestly, I wouldnt be surprized if he went back to the Texans on a sweet deal for them... but likely Jerry Jones will try to scoop him up cheap... but playing next year he certainly isnt going to start by camp I would say. 2 Quote

Opening weekend at the new Stadium yes. 100%. As time fades Buffalo will be his fondest memories in the league. 1 Quote
Brian Higgins hair Posted October 29 Posted October 29 (edited) You hate to see any player go down with an injury, no matter who it is. But at Diggs age, injuries like this are more likely to happen. I don’t see him ever returning to his old form again. He is older and injured now. ACL take at least a year and a half. The man did make his first share of money. I thought he reworked his deal with them to make himself a free agent. Which means he will get less next year because a team will have to sign him and let him rehab on their dime. Quote
