In any case... Darnold should have thrown the ball WAY sooner.  Holding the ball in the end zone like that is certainly a choice.  From the broadcast view i thought the player got his shoulder pad, but replays were pretty obvious that he had his facemask grabbed.  It's like complaining when they don't throw a flag for PI at the end of the game, throw the ball and don't leave it in the refs hands.

And people bet on this sport

Rams getting hot as we have to play them in a few weeks

Helps getting Kupp and Nacua back at the same time.

Another away game against a team that tends to play LOADS better at home.  They have the lions the week after who are also a lot better at home than on the road.  Every team is - but i think the offensive guru guys like mcvay and johnson tend to scheme up better without crowd noise.

NFL officials are the worst. The majority are over age 50 with failing eyesight, as almost all people do once they reach their mid 40s and plenty of them are overweight enough that they can’t even move fast enough to be in position to make the correct call to start with. Absolute freaking joke.

You just described most of us on this boards physical condition & appearance 😀

The whole world saw it except for the ref who was standing there watching. The refereeing continues to be abysmal.

Even the guy that sacked Darnold thought he was getting flagged.  Rather than instantly celebrate, he put his face into his hands.

Exactly! He knew he messed up with the facemask then he got a reprieve from the inept officials. Unbelievable.

Meanwhile AJE tackles Rodgers for a perfectly legal sack, and gets an unnecessary roughness.

What a joke.  So we can all see it from our TVs, but they can’t see it on the field so can’t call it.  Did the supposed “eye in the sky” just happen to fall asleep by the end of the game?

“The crew got together to discuss the play to see if we had missed anything. All of us had the Rams moneyline, so we couldn’t make the call. Simple as that.”

There is literally no way that #3 Official doesnt see that facemask. The dangerous jerking of Darnold's helmet makes it really obvious. The only way the head would jerk like that from facing forward to the side is because the facemask was pulled. Not possible otherwise. Saying that you didnt see it is basically admitting you are blind and should not  be an official. Its also admitting you have no understanding of how a  helmet works or physics

Actually the official to the left of #3 had even a better look, and he also chose to not throw the flag.

My issue with the" we didn't see it so can't call it" is how often that is not the standard. They all the time call ghost penalties. That is why that missed call is so unacceptable, his head and helmet went different ways.

For anyone who watched that embarrassing football game in LA last night well you should tune into the game in LA tonight, the one with real stars where one of the teams actually wins by scoring more runs and earning more outs than the other team.

There were 2 linemen in his direct point of view.  3 had the best view, and while his helmet moves, you can see his hand up around the shoulder pads and i guess what he thought he saw was shoulderpad.  Since darnold was trying to spin out of the sack, it may have been interpreted as a "bob and weave" type tactic to avoid the sack.

As i said before though, you can't hold the ball there.  He WAS sacked, and the call only bails out the terrible playcall and execution.  Shotgun 7 step drop in the end zone? You deserve to lose there.

That's the Umpire; the other official in the offensive backfield.

He generally watches the left side of the OL/DL and can help the Referee on calls concerning the QB.

He could not see the play because the LT/DE were in his line of sight. He bears no responsibility for the foul up; it's all on the Referee (white hat)

I just had a quick laugh when they showed the Rams fans in the stands at the TNF set, and the Bills fans have 3 times as many fans at an away game.

You do realize that when the Rams won the SB, there were approximately 2000 people for the parade down Figueroa. It was embarrassing.
