So, i was sent home from work this week with Covid (80% of the office has it right now) and although i should be working from home (which i said i would), i don't and i'm not.

I found myself in front of the TV watching whatever is playing, just flipping around the channels.........and came across the Shawshank Redemption (i've seen it about a 100 times and i'll watch it another 100 times), which got me to thinking about my all time "go to" movies.......movies that no matter how many times i've watched them, if they are playing on TV, i'll watch them again, over and over.

So, here's my list.....

* The Shawshank Redemption

* Fargo

* Triangle

* The Dark Knight

* Silence of the Lambs

I've probably seen all these movies about 100 times........i just cant' get enough of them.

What's your movie "go to" list?

A book

I used to read a book a day (and not just comic books either), but sometimes when i'm sick, i can't even manage to hold a book let alone even try to put any thoughts into the storyline and it's on those days, that i sit in front of the tube and veg.

I think maybe I've just got to the point where the TV is such a pain in the ass to manage, that if I'm sick or beat up and it's veg time, I'll just lay a book on my chest and go to sleep; like it's some kind of freaking security blanket or something.

Sorry about the attempted thread hijack; I'll crawl off and put some military sci-fi on my chest and have a nap.

Do you know what's good about movies?  You don't have to read.

I'm so deaf that I now only go to movies with subtitles.

I am actually good with subtitles.  I used to hate them but I actually don't mind them and actually follow the movie better.

Blue Velvet

That Championship Season

Glengarry Glen Ross

Easy Rider

Marty

Fitzcarraldo

Coming Home

Apocalypse Now

I forgot about Glengarry Glen Ross......an absolutely fantastic film where nothing really happens and yet, everything happens. A film based solely on dialogue to progress the movie forward, with nary an explosion, a breast, nor any car crash scenes to be found and the movie plays right into the hands of the suspenseful viewer who is glued to find out how it ends.

I tell my friends about this movie all the time......they can't seem to make it past the first 10 minutes because there is so little action.....in fact, none.

But this film is based solely on dialogue, and it works beautifully for this movie.
