gotta stand up for farmers.  I had a patient who was selling out his farm and said "who's going to feed us?".  He was serious.  He had no one to take over his farm.  The kids don't want it.  It's a financially risky, dangerous business.

American children today are allergic to physical labor if it's not on a ipad or computer or TV screen or not named black ops 2 they want nothing to do with it but parents allow it so they don't actually have to parent so men like him have to sell their farms because their are no young people willing to take it over & the prices they get paid for that very hard work is a pittance of what it should be in comparison to what say a sports personality makes .

Priority's in this country have went straight to hell ... Cops, farmers, Military, teachers, Dr's and health workers make near poverty level pay & entertainers, career politicians, lawyers , criminals & such make boo koo bucks ...

I served as an elections officer for five years.

I knew and met people who are extremely affluent, and many less so.

After a while of doing this, and engaging in conversation, which my small precinct allowed me to do, I concluded that there is no value in judging based on net worth, education or any of the myriad of other categorizations.

We have two very flawed candidates.

We need to get through this and get over this nonsense.

We don't have a Hitler or fascist, and the world is not going to end.

We have a somewhat narcissistic blowhard, and a leftist loon from an area that has destroyed effective government, and cannot answer a simple question.

Tough years ahead. Great for the media, but not for us, but we'll get over it.

This is a good summary imo.

In life off the board, I routinely interact and engage with people.  Liberals, democrats, republicans, conservatives, a healthy variety of immigrants, citizens, people who fly the Pride flag, people who don’t, and with a wide variety of religious beliefs and those who choose no religion at all.

The glue that binds reasonable people together is respect of the opinions of others.  That doesn't play really well here, of course, but face to face we seem to get along pretty well.  The media/pundits/politicians aren’t in place to preach harmony and understanding, there’s no real money/power in that.

As I walk through my neighborhood of a few dozen houses, we’ve got a couple Harris signs, a couple Trump signs, and most with none.  Beyond that…not much drama.  The world continues to spin, and will after November, and beyond.  I think for most people, this is reality.  Where the crazies gather, well, that’s a different story but hardly the norm.

I also agree the next few years are going to be rocky.  Not the first or last time that will happen.

over 85% on this board predict a civil war in their lifetime.  Yes, it's the extremes that will start the fire.  But it will involve the entire country.  mob mentality is real.  We are seeing it right now.  It's by design.

The left loves to talk of that term.  But they would expect the state to do the work.

Similar to their entire ideology.  Use the state for control and against the enemy.

I prefer to deal in facts

so you've never seen an alligator in the wild in Orlando.  They must have gotten every single one when they culled over 200 at Disney World.  I played golf there twice in my life (sweating to death) and saw alligators both times.  you must not get out of the basement much.  editL  oops, no basements in Orlando.  Too swampy.

As I said reading comprehension is not your thing, I stated "I have not seen a gator in the wild in years". You don't come across gators often in places with lots of people.

free markets at work, values is where the market says it is. (We all know the markets aren’t free the wealthy place a heavy thumb on the scale)

Government regulation is how we as a society check and steer the market to our collective goals. We can tax large corps and high wage earners and subsidize farms and any other industry we choose. Instead half the electorate wants to talk about abortions and women’s sports instead of wage fairness.

Maybe try voting for politicians who want to increase wages for teachers and the military and want to regulate health care for better outcomes, and increasing the minimum wage to a living wage instead of tax cuts and walls.

also farms are a problem for several reasons but mostly corporations owning large farm conglomerates that drive down prices and squeezing out smaller farms due to scale. Additionally most farms need more than one child to work it but dividing the farm smaller and smaller make each part less able to compete.

none of this is a natural event all of it is man made decisions.

Huh? You are the state. I am the state. This is what democracy is. And better the state control things than corporations since there is no accountability to corporations other than the state, which is all about accountability. (Public records, open meeting laws and elections).

What’s your plan for increasing wages to teachers?  What does that look like?  A federal standard?  Minimum starting salary of $125k?  $150k?  In NYS, for example, would you advocate for eliminating pensions/retirement benefits in exchange for higher starting/ongoing salary?

You must not get out much.  I've seen an alligator or many every time I've been to Fla including in a pond at my friends housing development.  Hundreds of them at  Kennedy Space Center.  You live in the swamp or at least surrounded by it.

You are an odd little man. Your obsession with my life is getting a little uncomfortable. Your lack of knowledge of Central Florida is hilarious though.

Like the population of gators in my area over the past few years? That is really very much about me and not anything else
