I can think of:

1. Portland

2. San Antonio

3. Salt Lake City

4. St.Louis

5. San Diego

They said Orlando and Austin were the biggest threats (allegedly)

I think it's all nonsense. They were never moving. They just needed a reason to sell this to the tax payers.

Salt Lake would like to move into the big leagues but the NHL and MLB are higher on the list before anything happens with football.

Also, the Sunday thing.

Two of them were in Texass but do not count since Jerry Jones has declared Texass his territory.  He is still mad that Houston got a team and did not need to pay rent to him like owners in LA and NJ.

Part of what Hochul said is just lore.  I believe that San Antonio was never a serious contender.  It seems like the cities that we knew were in contention were Toronto and Los Angeles

It was mentioned in paper in Albany; the source was someone in government in Albany.

Been a little inflation since the stadium budget was created.

They agreed the deal at the height of the post Covid supply chain issues.   Construction costs were already highly inflated at that point.   Stadium probably coulda been built for around 1 Billion in 2019 or 2020.   Hell we could have had an Allegiant stadium for the price we're paying.

She doesn’t say which 5 cities

She also says “we’re [the state] in for $650M of what will be a well over $2B stadium.”  What?? No other detail given on what caused such crazy overruns of what started at $1.4B

If it were finished inside the original budget, I believe that would 🟰the first commercial project in the US to have done so. 🤷‍♂️

Good call on Salt Lake. Utah has been crazy active trying to get anything and everything there. Just got nhl, ufc has been there annually a few years in a row. Last ufc there was a commercial for the city talking about trying to bring in the best entertainment.

Good call by them honestly! It's a beautiful area from everything i hear and that's the kind of thing that makes your city pop up as being a major city. Certainly isn't the nightlife in Mormon country I don't think

What do you think of the Dallass Buffalo?

Jerry Jones already has ear of owner and if Pegulas could not make a deal with county/state he would be glad to rent stadium on weeks Cowpokes were not playing.

A lot of what Hochul said is leaked speculation making it look like there was competition.

Salt Lake City has bars and speakeasies including those open on Sundays.

There is a casino two hours away in West Wendover, NV.  Bunch of players could take a Limousine Party Bus Rental there.

Toronto, Mexico City, London UK, San Antonia and Oklahoma City.

Good guesses. I’d say St. Louis, San Diego, San Antonio, Salt Lake City, and OKC.

At varying points Austin TX, Portland OR, St Louis & San Diego were all interested.

Let's hear it for the San Diego Bills!  NOT!

Toronto has to be amongst those especially when Bon Jovi mentions he's had Toronto backers in his team.

Would Florida really want a 4th NFL team?

I think it was all BS. But I remember them saying a group from Orlando and Austin being the biggest ones coming forward. San Antonio wants one as well.

The NFL would be extremely dumb if they ever let the Bills leave Buffalo. That would be like the Packers leaving Green Bay. One of the cool things about the NFL is the parity especially when it comes to smaller market teams. It’s pretty awesome knowing that the Bills  (not the Giants or Jets) have been the best team in New York for a while now. When people say the league is rigged, I point out the fact that Jets have the active longest playoff drought.

The Bills and their fans have a charm to them. I feel like a good % of fans from other non-AFCE teams tend to root for us. The Bills are more of “America’s team” than the Cowboys are, that’s for sure. Going to Toronto would’ve been a massive black eye for the NFL and I think even Goodell knows that. Not just Bills fans would be affected. I’m not a Steelers fan, but I would damn sure be pissed if they moved to Canada and became the Toronto Drakes.

I don’t think Portland was ever in the mix. Phil Knight is the only person in the state who can afford an NFL team, and he’s not gonna be around for long (and he’s pretty focused on the Ducks…)

There may of course be some out of state owners, but there’s no obvious stadium solution here. There is an ownership group trying to lure an MLB team, but they are on roughly plan Z as the city has battled every sensible location.

And….its just not that big a sports town. The Blazers draw ok and soccer is popular, but similar size metros like St Louis, San Diego, San Antonio, and Austin have …. a lot more potential NFL ticket buyers.

Remember the good old days at Rich Stadium where people pissed in their bottles, in the sink, or anywhere else other than urinal trough in the 10x10 bathroom on the other side of the Stadium? Guess some money was needed for updates after all right?

By urinal you mean trough.
