Cooper or Hopkins?

When you catch a couple bombs in a game, it’s easy to look like a dominant performance when you look at the stats, doesn’t mean it really mattered much.

Both still very good receivers if given the opportunity. And that’s the rub. I have little faith in Brady scheming enough targets for Cooper. He struggles with this in general. Kincaid should be getting double what he gets now. Reid on the other hand will continue to make it happen for DHop.

I think Brady is scheming different guys open so the opposition can't focus on preventing one guy being the focal point. Similar to what Green Bay did last season which made things tough on defenses.

Big bodied WR that seems to be a solid RedZone threat. Idk guess we don't need that on offense.

Both had big catches in the game. It's obvious that Mahomes trusts Hopkins already, similar to Josh & Cooper.  But I think Cooper made more of an impact, despite the hurt wrist. By having Cooper out there and able to catch those sideline balls, it kept the KC defense honest.

Cooper gives us more of something we lacked than Hopkins did. That's not to say Hopkins wouldn't help. I think Hopkins gives the Chiefs more of something they needed.

Cooper really is the anti-Diggs. Look at him casually making a one handed catch for a massive 3rd down conversion, with the expression of someone waiting in line at the DMV.

He doesn't scheme for Mack.  He is just open alot because opposing defenses don't bother with him.

The Bills have been famously victimized by Hail Mary plays (Hopkins, Jefferson, Lazard) over the years but they've coached/played them poorly.

 

I'm confident that they'll get it right going forward. With big, rangy CBs like Douglas and Benford they have a good start. They have to rush more than 2 guys for starters. I don't think it's helpful for AJ Epenesa and Terrell Bernard to be playing 10 yards off the line of scrimmage either. And for as much as I love Taron Johnson, he and Cam Lewis, Taylor Rapp, and Damar Hamlin is not a good Hail Mary combo to put back there. It seems like Keon Coleman and Mack Hollins should be back there.

 

Anyways, after the Lazard catch, I think the Bills will do better on Hail Marys and I certainly don't lose sleep thinking about them.

Seriously though, I like Cooper over Hopkins but I'd probably take Adams over Cooper if it was equal compensation.

 

Mostly just super pleased that Beane pulled Cooper out of his hat.
