Right now Goff is out in front so we need to beat them.

Nah Goff is mostly seen as a pretty decent qb on a loaded offense.  He’d have to do a ton more than everybody else to win it.  Goff is wayyyy behind in the betting odds and has never really been that close recently

the bills were supposed to take a step back this year and haven’t which seems to be weighing pretty heavily.  I think Lamar would be out in front if he didn’t win it questionably recently

I think right now it’s a unanimous Josh Allen win. Goff is driving a Ferrari. A loaded roster in Detroit.

The MVP is some nonsense award voted on by some group the AP selects. They will make the QB of the winner of the Detroit vs Buffalo game the MVP, just like they made the winner of the Ravens vs Niners game the MVP last year.

Na they won’t give it to Goff without some crazy historical season imo everyone knows who he is…he’s a pretty good qb in a ridiculously good situation.  Idk whether it’s fair or not but I really think they’ll try to give it to josh if he’s in the neighborhood of it.  He’s kind of ‘due’

past seasons shouldn’t effect it but I’m sure they do

The Chiefs and many other teams have proven the #1 seed is not necessary. They beat the AFC #1 seed and then the NFC #1 seed last year.

Allen needs to win the Super Bowl and the Super Bowl MVP before some regular season award that AP chosen voters select.

Alright, well if he unfortunately wins the league MVP too because we earn the 1 seed, I won’t complain.  If you claim you wouldn’t want the 1 seed over any other seed, you’re just trying to pick a fight at that point.  Turning down a bye in the playoffs and home field advantage is just idiotic.

If the Lions beat the Bills and finish the NFC #1 seed, Goff is going to be the MVP.  That is how the voting works. Had Brock Purdy beaten the Ravens last year he would have been the MVP.

I respectfully disagree lol but we’ll see.  Clearly there’s a line somewhere because the 1 seed qb in the afc sure ain’t gettin it and we just disagree on where it is

you’d get sick odds for a futures bet on Goff right now id absolutely go for it if you feel that strongly

Allen stock up

BIG win against the dreaded Chiefs. Josh had 262 passing yards and 55 rushing yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT. Huge game-sealing drive at the end of the 4th with a "He's Him" 26-yard TD run in front of a national audience. Bills lead the AFC East by 5.5 games. Only have two losses. Currently 2nd seed in AFC playoff race.

Jackson not helping his case today:

Lamar had 207 passing yards and 46 rushing yards today with 1 TD and 1 INT. Had what could have been a game-tying drive at the end of the game, but they missed the two-point conversion. Steelers now have a 1.5 game lead on the Ravens in the AFC North. Ravens now have 4 losses. Currently 5th seed in AFC playoff race.

Lamar still leads in the stat column for QB candidates (but then Josh's stats were better than Lamar's last year and Jackson still got the trophy):

Jackson: 3,460 total yards, 27 total TDs, 3 INTs (2nd place division, 7-4 record)

Daniels: 3,053 total yards, 14 total TDs, 3 INTs (2nd place division, 7-4 record)

Allen: 2,859 total yards, 23 total TDs, 5 INTs (1st place division, 9-2 record)

Mahomes: 2,571 total yards, 16 TDs, 11 INTs (1st place division, 9-1 record)

Goff: 2,531 total yards, 20 TDs, 9 INTs (1st place division, 9-1 record)

Other possible candidate's Sundays:

Mahomes: 196 yards 3 TDs 2 INTs (in loss to the Bills) (Despite their record, his stats are not MVP worthy currently and the defense has really helped to carry them)

Henry: 65 yards and 1 TD (in loss to Steelers) (Will they give it to a non-QB? Probably not)

Barkley: 198 total yards and 2 TDs (Saquon actually has 67 more yards from scrimmage than Henry and is only 47 yards behind him for the rushing title---Henry does have 5 more TDs than Barkley though) (Again, unlikely due to not being a QB).

Goff: 433 yards and 4 TDs (in win over JAX---I don't know that Goff is really in the conversation, but performances like this certainly helps his case)

Daniels: 219 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT (in loss to Eagles---same with Daniels, probably more in line for OROY rather than MVP)

Winning an MVP before winning a Super Bowl is not ideal.

Like Mahomes in 2018? He and the Chiefs seemed to recover just fine.

Also you can do both in the same year you know. Mahomes showed that as well.

Nonsense or not, that voted on nonsense ends up being part of players legacies. Even more so as time goes on. Those who never watched the player will just look and see the accolades and stats.

Burrow has been awesome and must be part of the MVP discussion, just been let down by a sub par D.

What an absolute waste of talent if the Bengals miss the playoffs.

I still think we would win against them in the playoffs because their defense is not the same but still. Burrow is awesome and their wrs are elite

Josh Allen is going into the Hall of Fame on his statistics.  He had the MVP stats last year and didn't win proving what a joke the award is.  Allen will be judged by Super Bowl Championships, not MVPs. The MVP is almost as big of a joke as being on the Pro Bowl team.  If we have learned anything over the years of voting, we have learned that the people who vote for the award barely watch the games and have no idea what they are doing. Changing the rules where they get to rank 5 players makes it even more of a joke of an award.

Mahomes is having his worse season as a pro that’s a joke

It’s about the wins and they have them.  Mahomes isn’t having a great statistical season, that’s for sure, but seeing what he’s working with, which is basically a bag of chips at the skill positions, I have to be impressed with what they have accomplished.  All that said, unless their D can turn it up ANOTHER notch, that team is very beatable.

Based on the vibe from the national morning sports shows so far, it's back to being Allen's MVP to lose.  It's probably a combo of:

1) Mahomes having a very average season for him,,  Chiefs fatigue (and the Bills beating them head to head)

2) Lamar/Ravens have 4 losses.  Lost to KC and rival Pitt.  To me, Lamar is having a better season than last year but the voters have given him two MVP's already and he's been a playoff letdown.  So he would have to do way more than anyone to win again and he may not even win his division.

3) Goff- For whatever reason, he's not getting the MVP momentum maybe he deserves.  It could be the 5 int game. Maybe because Detroit has great playmakers and media thinks they would be good regardless. Goff doesn't have the splash running ability so he needs to be judged purely on passing.

4) Hurts, Murray, Herbert, etc..  Long odds

The general feeling i get is that media wants Allen to win it this year.  It's possible that it's finally an appreciation of his numbers over the past 5 years, and his great playoff numbers.... even against KC (in losses).  I've heard a few TV guys mention that without Allen, the Bills would be hurt more than the other big playoff teams.  He means that much.  So if Josh can avoid another Houston game.. and just continue to put up his numbers, i think he might win it even with the #2 seed.

Allen is going to need to finish at a minimum as the #2 seed and put up comparable numbers to Lamar. Beating Detroit could seal it up for Josh. Goff has played well but Allen has put up similar numbers with less turnovers so that 5 int game could come back to haunt him.

It has really gotten to be ridiculous, it is a QB with great stats on the 1 seed....not sure why it has morphed to that.   Jackson did not deserve it last year.   He has a better case this year IMO yet he is not in front.   I think Goff could become a contender if they beat the Bills.

Don't forget Lamar won it last year over Josh in large part because of the team record (Josh had the better stats).  So having Josh get it this year with the same reasoning would be just.  Also, this year Lamar's team has D Henry on it, that makes a QB's life a lot easier.
