Agree but I don't understand why he would be a good backup. He awful

Well.. I never said he would be good …

I think the thing they value the most is whether they will play here on the cheap … it’s worked  so far I guess because they only see the field in garbage time …

Except Russell Wilson's career was very different from Daniel Jones'.

Seriously. When Josh is done and we put him up on the Wall of Fame, we should also do the same for Gettleman for gifting us our franchise QB (when the Giants also needed one).

Don't forget about John Elway drafting Bradley Chubb instead of Josh.

Not a stretch here. They have the #1 pick in the draft and have been saying they were giving D Jones this year on things like hard knocks.

The real question is are schoen and Daboll dead men walking or are they gonna get a chance to pick and develop the next guy.

This.

I'm pretty sure Daboll's gone but I'm less sure about Schoen.

Eli was good in the playoffs and helped take down the evil empire twice on the biggest stage. I don't think he is HOF worthy, but he was a good QB. IMHO

I think Gettleman was guilty of showing too much respect to Eli.

Interestingly Gettleman never fired anyone when he took over in Carolina or in New York. Almost too nice a guy to be an NFL GM.

I don't think there's too much basis to think that Trubisky is better than DJ.

They're roughly equivalent IMO.

Agree, most backups stink or else they'd be starters

It may have come from the owner, but Schoen looks to be the reason the Giants wasted another two seasons on Jones.   I think the Saquon move was the right one, but man its bit them in the butt.     For the sake of the incoming rookie QB the Giants need to tear down and start again.    The likelihood the rookie comes in and takes them to the playoffs is low, so you will essentially have a lame duck coach with your franchise QB.   Better off to have the franchise QB come in the same year as the new coach.

who is going to give Daboll and Schoen that chance?  Who are they going to develop?  They are not good at that---they figured they were set with Jones and backed up a truck for this absolute bum.

I was dumbfounded by Gettleman's explanation that he passed on a quarterback because he still thought a 37 year old Eli Manning had a few good years left.  His decline was obvious at that point and he was never that great to begin with.

Agree.

Stats and trophies won't back me up, but I've seen Archie, Payton, and Eli all play and thought Eli was the worst of the three.  Yet others seemed to believe Eli would still play at HOF level into his 40s.

Schoen will be back in Buffalo. Daboll will be OC in Chicago.

With the potential of Brady leaving for a HC job, do we bring back Daboll? Probably not as there was a rift between him and McD. He seemed to get the most out of Josh though.

I can see Daniel Jones taking over from Mitch Trubisky as the backup QB here in 2026…. He seems to have the attributes they value in a backup looking at the previous guys that have filled the role

jones seems like a nerd. Josh only wants real bro-skis in that QB room.

His pal Darnold hasn't been doing so well with the Vikings recently. That is someone I could see Josh wanting the Bills to bring in as the backup.

Honestly, i was in complete disbelief that Jones was even drafted, let alone in the first round........and then for the G men to extend his contract is like, wow, some disfunction going on there.

The guy is not good.

The owner could have directed them to do that, though.

Some need right QB coach or right OC or right offense.

Low chance Daboll returns to Buffalo in any capacity. Daboll to Chicago makes a lot of sense, but this is Chicago we are talking about. They’re just as likely to hire back Nagy 😂
