If Brian Daboll gets fired, would you take him as OC?

Saleh has been on the hottest of seats for 2 seasons.  There's no chance at all Douglas was surprised by this.  Johnson was on the phone with Rodgers the night before he fired Salih---and Rodgers also, comically, claims he didn't know.

 

Anyway, the Mara family doesn't have a history of being particularly meddling.  Even if Daboll hated Jones, he could have drafted a QB at 6 this year and just rode out Jones's next 2 years.   But he didn't....

 

Jones is Daboll's guy at the time of that contract signing.

It wouldn't make any sense for Daboll /Schein to draft a QB at 6. They both are on the hot seats and they need To win right now and they aren't gonna be given 2-3 years to groom a rookie

Nabers/Jones obviously gives them a better chance to win now compared to let's say JJ McCarthy if they drafted him with no Nabers

maybe you are redefining "obviously"?  they've won 2 games.  they have the League's worst Offense.  how does this give them "a better chance to win now"?

Would you rather an unproven rookie with a fairly low ceiling in JJ McCarthy, or DJ and Nabers?

Before the season being the key words.

Jones sucks.  this was known.  the answer is that neither combo can possibly win "this year", gun or none.

I agree that Jones sucks but at the end of the day in 2022 he played well down the stretch and they won a playoff game. He was rewarded with his big contract after that 

He only played a few games in 2023 before tearing his ACL.

So it was either "go all in with an unproven rookie" to save their jobs.

 

Or go to the bigger sample size in 2022 from DJ compared to 2023 , and draft an elite WR prospect to help him out.

 

If I'm trying to save my job, it's a no brainer decision

He and the Giants were terrible down the stretch--they won 3 of their last 9 games. He was a bad QB in 2021 and 2020.  He didn't fall off a cliff....he never made it to the edge of a cliff.  Then he was injured.  Now he's back and he still sucks. 

 

All of this was predictable.

And in their playoff win he went 24/35 for 301 and 2 TDs.

They aren't.   They are Mac Jones numbers. Mariota numbers. Andy Dalton numbers. Brock Purdy had nearly as many passing TDs in only 5 games.   These are/were all backup quality guys at the time.   It wasn't even Jones's best season!  He's had one season with over 15 TD passes.  How many starting NFL QBs keep getting handed the ball year after year with those numbers?

We will agree to disagree. Mac jones, dalton or mariota have never even won a playoff game and on much better teams.

 

Im Not here to argue that jones is good because he's not

 

But in 2022 I think inarguably he at least had a "average to decent year". 4000 total yards, 22 total TdS, 5 INTs and a playoff game where he threw over 300 yards and got the win.

 

And got rewarded for 40 mil per year contract - if giants weren't gonna pay him, a team would have at least given him 30-35 per year, which would reflect that he had a decent 2022 season . Unless you're in the belief that nfl owners just like throwing 100s of millions of dollars around to players coming off "bad " seasons

Hmmm, let’s see how the facts break down to understand why this is one of the most shockingly ludicrous OPs I have ever seen on this board….

 

A few hours after the Bills beat the Titans, 34-10….

 

With the Bills earning 389 yards of offense…

 

With Keon Coleman having his breakout game, with 125 receiving yards…

 

And Coleman now with the 3rd most receiving yards in the 2024 rookie class, with 326, more than Marvin Harrison Jr, Rome Odunze, Ladd McConkey, Xavier Worthy…

 

As their brand new weapon, Amari Cooper, is looking like he has been with the team for a month, not just a few days, earning 66 yards and a TD, and clearly adding a missing dimension to the offense, as he opens up things across the field for other receivers…

 

And right after the Bills just totally dominated on offense after a slow start, scoring 34 points against the best defense in the NFL…

 

With Brady now going 11-3 since he became our OC, in the middle of last season, when he immediately turned around a moribund offense, turning the offense and team into a legitimate championship contender over night…

 

While at the same time… Brian Daboll’s Giants, showed, yet again, why they are clearly one of the worst offenses in the NFL, scoring 3 points against the Eagles, earning a total of 119 yards…

 

And with the Bills averaging over 28 points a game this season, 5th in the league, and the Giants averaging half that amount, at 14 points per game, 31st in the league…

 

With all these clear facts, many extremely fresh in his head, somehow a Bills’ ‘fan’ is likely thinking, “Wow, maybe it is time (again) to get rid of Brady, and bring Daboll back, as clearly this Brady experiment is not working. And Daboll is showing just how good he is, what we could have now”, just a few hours after the Bills’ offense has its way with one of the best defenses in the NFL.

 

I have been on this board for about 30 years, and so have seen thousands of topics posted and questions asked. But I have rarely seen a post or question as nonsensical, bizarre, and void of reason as this one. It is as if all facts and reality have somehow completely deserted the OP.
