Why is Nobody Talking About Mahomes' Interceptions this Season?

Patrick Mahomes:

6 TD

6 INT

57.3 QBR

Josh Allen:

10 TD

0 INT (Z-E-R-O...)

79.6

Why are none of the NFL talking heads decrying Mahomes as an inaccurate passer?

Why is there no narrative about how he has regressed?

Why aren't NFL talking heads criticizing Mahomes' lack of accuracy, or his sub-pedestrian numbers to this point in the season.

Oh... Wait... They still have a stat to hang their hats on...

Mahomes: 1,235 yards

Allen: 1,160 yards

So, I guess this year the measuring stick for NFL MVP is passing yards...

Cool.

I don't need to argue this point. I'll leave this to Bruce Nolan:

Give it a listen.

Mahomes has more ints than Allen since the start of last year.   And I think they are equal now going back three years.  The turnover thing was always overblown but at the same time something he needed to improve on.

I'll agree that Allen needed to improve. I'm asking why nobody in the media criticizes Mahomes. That is my question.

Cool.

If Pat was any other QB, he would be getting killed.

but unfortunately, he isn’t, he’s a 2 time MVP and 3 time SB winner. So he gets more grace than anyone.

They guy has 3 Super Bowls, Josh has none. Have to eliminate KC from the playoffs or win the Super Bowl before this narrative changes significantly

I'm not disagreeing with you, but this SHOULD NOT be how logical arguments are made.

Thought experiment:

If you swapped Allen's and Mahomes' stats, what would the entirety of the NFL media be squawking about?

I'll answer for you: Allen is inaccurate / Allen will never be better than Mahomes / Allen isn't in the MVP conversation...

Wins are NOT a quarterback stat.

It’s partly narrative, partly ignorance and partly that the chiefs are undefeated.   Which btw is the same argument we use with Allen, the turnovers don’t happen at critical times for either of them.

Thanks for confirming that NARRATIVE is a major part of this. I wish more people would see what's going on out there. Narrative has been anti-Allen since a good number of pundits said he would never amount to a hill of beans in the NFL. They aren't letting it go, and they are fighting hard to continue to be "right".

That's what I'm pissed about.

Wins are NOT a quarterback stat.

Commentary by the media isn't a stat either.

He's the best QB in the league, has 3 SB wins, and is a legit argument for top 4 QB of all time already.

When they lose a game it will be talked about more

Because at the end of the day if you're down 6 with the ball Mahomes is still the guy you want. You know he is scoring. You know what he has done up until that point just doesn't matter. I don't think his current stat line really matters to people. Not with a 5-0 record.

I said over and over that the turnover narrative with Allen was overblown.  Some of it is luck, some of it is dropped passes into defenders hands, but his play isn't indicative of 22 turnovers.  And now you are seeing that course correction with ZERO interceptions and 2 fumbles in 7 games.  The zero interceptions is impressive.  I know there were a few that were dropped, but that applies to every QB.

There is only one way to end it…..

also, it’s good to understand that those “narratives” pay salaries, people make more for saying things that get reactions.  Because if social media and people’s reactions it snowballs.
