I watched the San Jose St/Wyoming football game today.   The Wyoming QB Evan Svoboda is 6’5” and 245# and wears #17.  Sound familiar?  It was also uncanny how much his play looked like Josh.  A very strong arm and used his big body well on scrambles and runs.  The broadcast even showed a comparison clip of how much he looked like Josh out there.

Unfortunately, while he looked good to start, he was pulled with about 6 minutes left and replaced by a freshman with the team down 24-7.  On the other side, despite a 4-2 record, San Jose St started a new young big QB with a big arm, who looked like young Josh in other ways.  He fumbled on a scramble and threw interceptions in the red zone.  They should’ve had a much bigger win, but he played the whole game.

With all the SJ St turnovers, Wyoming had plenty of opportunities with the ball, but had only the 7 points until the last minute, likely the reason the Josh clone was pulled.

The name Svoboda just isn’t marketable, moving on.

It means "freedom" in Slavic languages.

Josh Allen has ruined QB evaluation and it's going to be more than a decade before people stop thinking every big athletic QB with accuracy issues and questionable decision making is going to turn into a top 5 NFL QB.

I guess if you squint your eyes real hard, every QB out there looks like Josh, huh?
